Had a couple of deaths to REs today, no big deal. Except I saw they were doing more damage then they should. The first one did 1552 and the second did something like 1658.
I'm a Gal Sentinel with the racial suit skill at level 5, which should cut the REs damage against my Drop Suit as it's an explosive and Sentinel's skill is splash damage resistance.
When I died the first time, I'd literally just spawned and the RE detonated as I took a step forward, since the Uplink had been booby trapped. The second time, the user managed to jump and lob one into the container with the Null Cannon console. I had shields, so that should be 10%resistance (assuming that REs are treated that way, think they get a bonus ) The user, both times, was a G-I scout suit.
Now I know that the REs didn't get buffed and I'm sure that there's not a skill that ups damage, and only Minmitar get a bonus to REs. So I'm left scratching my head as to how a G-I can deal so much damage with an RE.
Can someone explain this one to me? Is it a bug or is there something I'm missing?

Explosive damage does additional damage to Armour, and as you're primarily armour, that may have been a factor. It's also possible that more than one explosive was used in each instance.

Can't give much more info on the first one, since I'd literally just spawned and then boom!
As for the second, I had partial shields (about 20% maximum) when the RE flew in and detonated.

My heavy is Gal but only to level 3, until they decide if they are going to stab him in the back of his heavy suit's sp that is.
He has never survived an RE that was close by. Never. Regardless of the math I think that ccp just insta-kills you and fills in the damage after the fact. Come to think of it, there are many situations in dust where that seems like the most likely situation.
Nobody at CCP cares because we ain't Legionnaires.

My Proto Gal has survived RE on a few occasions, but I brick tank with the plates when I run with a Logi and I had full shields (with a Complex Extender) at the time. Same fitting took a Railgun round and lived, just.

Just had a Republic Proto RE deal over 2000 damage against a Proto Gal Sentinel, with shields up.
