I have zero invested in the plasma cannon. It looked useless in the demo, it was useless in fact and I have been killed twice in the year and a month by plasma cannons. One was chance and the other was the final shot after other, better, weapons wore me down.
A bad design, a bad gun. But it had good PR, at least it did to some. 
Nobody at CCP cares because we ain't Legionnaires.

that's pretty cool it's getting a ROF buff.. my incubus got hit by one after the buff and i lost only like 5% armor.. i guess he might have been using the standard.. he deserved more damage if it was a proto.

RoF buff? All it needs is a projectile speed buff! It's useless against competent players!!! Even heavys!

yea but if a dropship comes to a hover it allows in theory for light infantry to fight back.. probably still needs more buff tho. i thought i read somewhere here it was getting a ROF buff. 2 proto PLC should be buffed to be able to down a dropship if coordinating to fire at it at the same time , or at least make it run, which i doubt is happening now. just the newness of being shot at by a rare weapon is somewhat refreshing. plus the dude actually had to aim it.

I think the only thing the Plasma cannon is really good at is use as a flare gun. Its bright and easily noticeable when shot in the air.

I was using my basic PLCs today and saw a Maddy. I shot at it then quickly ran for cover. In my attempt to hide, a +50 appeared on screen.
I don't know how that happened. My only guess is that the Maddy drove away and my PLC round hit someone who was directly behind the tank, but I laughed when the match ended because my longest kill was at a distance of 96m.

PLC is fun to use despite being very situational, I use it with the following proto galmando fit:
proto damage mod
proto armor repairer
2 proto kin cats
proto PLC
proto specialist shotgun
proto remote explosive

the ROF increase from this change is not that significant, only the time where you are stuck with the animation after firing before you can do something else gets reduced. what it really helps with is switching to a sidearm or another light weapon on the commando. the same "issue" existed with the swarms long time ago, shame they released the same annoying animation lockup with the PLC too... |

Lol, have you used one? The damage increase is great. I run min commandos with swarms, mass drivers, and combat rifles, I run Amarr commandos with laser rifles and assault scrambler rifles, and caldari commandos with rail rifles and assault rail rifles. It's actually pretty good.
