This has got to be the reason why some people get really bad lag.
I am getting sick of hearing everyone talk about lag because I never get it. Rarely I do, but it's only when EVERYONE is also getting it, like recently how a lot of us complained about it I got some minimal rubber banding going on.
To be honest I feel sorry for them, and I wonder why they tolerate it because I wouldn't.
There was a time back in 1.5 I think when I first started playing that the lag and rubber banding was horrible and happened constantly. Then one day after down time it stopped and never came back. Months later, to this day, I still do not get lag.
My thoughts on Hotfix Alpha: First I noticed a scout running from my AR. Then a heavy. Then a COMBAT RIFLE USER. CCP +1

I would assume there are multiple american servers/server farms.
Considering that my internet is ****, yet Dust isn't laggy for me, it would probably be in Chicago if there's only one.
Just saying that because that's the closest very-major city to me.

Speaking as an EU player, I get horrendous lag on the EU server but it's actually better on the American server sometimes, so I doubt it's a distance thing.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

When there's only one NA server for a game it often is based in Chicago. Don't know if this is true for Dust though. |

The biggest server farms in the US are in New York, Chicago, and Northern Virginia. But who knows where the Dust server is being rented from.
It is not really about distance whether you get lag or not it is more about the number of jumps you have to go through to hit the server. If you find the IP address and run tracert to it you will likely find that you are over 10-15 jumps if you are routinely getting lag that no one else in your squad is getting.

Consider this:
My game was PERFECT, lag was a none issue, only when playing against japanese in PC, and even then it was still playable.
When I played on hotfix alpha release (didn't play in a long time), I noticed major amounts of lag in every game I played.
So, considering how many people are complaining about lag, I'm sure CCP has a problem.

For some reason I only had some minor rubber banding. It basically only amounted to me getting killed once in a PC. Big deal.
