The big thing that needs to go is the assumption that all DUST/Legion players are "mercenaries". Some are, some aren't. And it's important that language changes in Legion.

Legionnaires were soldiers for their State; we are warriors for themselves. Honestly, I think mercenaries is and always will be the best term for what I will always call 'Dusters'.
However, if the Capsuleers came to calling us grunts or ground-pounders, i wouldn't mind.

Came from fanfest 2009. Devs named the dust mercs dust bunnies on stage, and it stuck. It's in the fanfest video still up on the ccp youtube page.

The title "Legion" always made me think of Demons. "My name is Legion for we are many." Why not just call the Mercs what they are. Demons. It also fits the Dust 514 lore as well seeing the implants are derived from Sleeper technology and that tech has some interesting side effects.
My reasoning for Demons (or other similar name) is that if you read the lore of Eve and Dust then you start to get an appreciation that it loosely bases it off of the end times and gives the universe its dark feel. Mercs are immortal warriors, killers, with fear of no one and nothing. Much like the Capsuleers when they attained Godlike status and immortality.
-Some of my favorite Dust fiction quotes to reinforce my idea.
(During a meeting of the most powerful leaders of New Eden)

The way the Mercs work together. It is like a swarm of many, undying, and numberless and seemingly borderline possessed by something unworldly.

I will always refer to everyone I recognize from the beginning as Dust bunnies.
