WAIT, hear me out.
I have no idea how possible/ridiculous this idea is but it came to me upon a trip down procrastination lane, whilst I steered clear of doing my real work. Anyway,
What if Legion contained some form of advanced built in Text-to-speech system where upon entering your mercenary quarters and other actions, you would be greeted with "Hello, [name]". Now of course the first problem on the cards is abuse, with ridiculous names and unpronounceable names, as well as there being the issue of having to build such tech across all languages, however I suggest this:
A player would have their main character name which would show up as their username, however they could opt to create a 'nickname' which could only be something such as, say, 10 characters (Just an example) that the female voice would call you. For example I may choose my nickname as 'BANE'. If the name is ridiculous an unpronounceable e.g. ffseybgshgrhfb then I think there should be a system where the voice will just ignore it and return to default 'mercenary'. In the same way there should be profanity filters in store so you couldn't have yourself nicknamed as 'Fuckface Jr' for example, as that would be ridiculous.
It's an idea on pretty shakey foundations right now, but I feel that it might be a step in the right direction for having the interaction between the player and the UI more on point. At the moment I feel like 1 clone of 1,000,000,000. I want there to be steps to really making your character an individual.
This interaction could be coupled with another idea I had. Say when you enter your mercenary quarters instead of just having your bland, hollow and dead room just flick up, it could 'activate'. Upon entering the quarters things like this could happen:
- Lights come on - A welcoming voice greets you - Things such as screens and gadgets flicker into activation with a whirring noise - Perhaps smaller things such as a water feature could turn on (Perhaps purchasable quarter items?) Soft music of your choosing on the EVE/Dust ost Jukebox could play (optional)
Anyway, just some random thoughts. Hope you like them!

What's useless is a soulless game smeared with grey tones, bland scenery, no immersion into the lore and inanimate set-pieces, all of which we have now. A little aesthetic drive and innovation goes a long way to improving a product. And on the grand scale of games taking up resources, this is pretty minor.

I'm fine with that. Automation is the bomb.
