they were around when i started playing, but either i didn't run squads with tankers enough, or nobody was using them because I never got to even observe them before they were taken out of the game back when vehicles got a rebalance and respec.
edit: Wait no, I remember killing idiots in Logi LAVs and hacking them. It was like finding a pot of gold lol
My thoughts on Hotfix Alpha: First I noticed a scout running from my AR. Then a heavy. Then a COMBAT RIFLE USER. CCP +1

I always thought it was weird the Scout LAV didn't come with a built in Scanner or maybe even...a cloak?
I would want most of the vehicles to be able to cloak but id be fine with an LAV with the HP of a militia LAV having that ability.
The old Scout LAV attributes and bonuses were LOL worthy and probably thought up by some persona that doesnt even play the game, or games at all.

I'd like the re-introduction the Shield/Armor Transporters, but I'd be in favor of a Built-In Supply Depot if it had a limited amount of fitting exchanges per modules.
I was thinking we could also give it the ability to re-stock a vehicle's ammo as well, effectively making them a true Logistics counterpart, and solving the problem of Supply Depots being in-accessible to vehicles.
As for the Scout LAV, I believe it should become the premier Assault LAV, maybe even the LAV capable of tackling HAVs. Though it would need a Slot and Base HP increase.

I actually liked the idea of scout/logi LAVs. I generally like the idea of having an LAV to roam about in as a support platform, but there's not much use for them doing that now.
It'd be nice if we could see scout LAVs back with scanning bonuses (and properly working manoeuvrability advantages) and logi LAVs back with proper repair systems for support actions, but I doubt that'll happen in DUST and it'd need LAVs to be a little more balanced platform to do that.
Things like vehicle locks so a blue dot doesn't nick your LAV if you switch to the gunner seat or hop out for two seconds to hack something, and something to prevent them from being abused by brick HMG heavies would be nice.
Also, small turrets on LAVs are just pretty terrible. Unless you're a heavy you're going to get shot off them, even if you are a heavy you probably won't be able to accomplish much before your stationary, highly visible, elevated out of cover figure gets shot at by everyone within the nearest mile.
But... I doubt we'll see them in DUST. Which is a shame. I'd like an excuse to get LAV 5 for LAVs.

Here are the Pros and Cons of LAVs in general:
Pros:
-High speed to get in and out of situations
-Maneuverability which is a little diminished by the second CON.
Cons:
-Too easily shot out of the convertible style vehicle.
-Handling for vehicles is awful, especially with LAVs
-Gunner might as well have a giant target on his head for everybody to see.
-Small Turrets are still outmatched by Small-Arms fire, small blaster especially.
-No Horsepower, it's silly that there are some hills that the vehicle can't go up yet go do 180 backflips on the slightest bump on the ground.
-Not a lot of HP, the only Con I'm okay with on this list.

Why do you care? You have difficulty destroying MLT tanks, what makes you think you could destroy a car that has an inherent 50% resistance to damage?

This is why we need Pilot Suits. Theses suits would allow you to use STD Vehicles and ADV Weaponary/Modules for your vehicle.

spider tanking for lurch was pretty epic. i see no way it can return, there is absolutely no role it can fill with out grossly OPing something. i actually had a LLAV that was based on support i named the fit BROLAV, it would rep tanks, heal shields and scan. most interesting fit i ever owned was thrown out the window over night. the LDS was a major joke, flew worse than STD and the 5m range remote repper was beyond worthless. only function LDS served was a flying brick. the free CRU did not justify the extra 300 shield points it freed up to fit.
