They don't seem to be calculated properly.
I just spent a match AVing with a squad mate helping and a DS pilot; over the course of the match we two AVers racked up 3800 WP across six killed tanks. Four of those we were dropped directly on top of the enemy vehicle.
Our pilot scored 600 WP in total, for a 0/0 game. Including a kill on a tank.
He got one block of 117 WP at one stage, he said.
I really don't see how that's enough to keep a Dropship pilot fed, without trying to slay with an ADS.

when i drop someone off for the rest of the game ill get like 1 little point thrown at me. 600 war points is almost unheard of!

/jots down notes.
This is likely to do with the transport distance required; I'll see if it can be looked into.
Also should they be added to LAVs?

How does this work? Or at least, supposed to work?
I remember my DS getting blown up, me jumping out and heading towards objective Alpha when I got transport assist points. I scratched my head

Blueberry earns warpoints (shocking, I know). (This has to happen within a certain timeframe of the delivery.) 4. You receive 20% of blueberry's warpoints as transport assist. (I think it was 20%)
That means if you wanted to earn a typical blueberry's wage you'd have to drop off an average of 5 blueberries per delivery.
I don't think transport assists for LAVs are going to work when the pilot earns 20% of the proceedings. On the other hand I don't think the transport assist ratio should be increased because that'd just lead to boosting. My stance is that full-time DS piloting (not ADS) is something for full squads only. Under those circumstances I think it works as intended. |

No. Not even if there are specialized LAVs again.
My thoughts on Hotfix Alpha: First I noticed a scout running from my AR. Then a heavy. Then a COMBAT RIFLE USER. CCP +1

We scored 3800 WP between the two of us, more than two thirds of which was scored jumping out of a DS.
The pilot killed one of the tanks (after the driver bailed).
He scored less than 450 points through transport assists.
There is no possible way this is a viable means of supporting oneself; either transport assists are absolutely not working as intended and are not rewarding the pilot properly, or they are working and CCP fails to realise what an adequate reward for the pilot actually is.

Part of the reason the transport assists were added, IIRC, was because drop shipping is as time and SP intensive as tanking and much less rewarding, where LAV driving is pretty straightforward and takes no particular investment or skill.

If you had been six passengers in the DS the pilot would've earned 1350 WP plus proceedings from other activities such as drop uplinks and kill assists. This isn't orders of magnitude away from what I feel it should be. We could perhaps discuss elevating the transport assist ratio from 20% to 25%, which would put the theoretical earnings at 1688 plus other activities, but I don't think it should be any higher.
The issue is that we shouldn't look at the earned transport assist points when the DS had only two passengers. That's comparable to judging the performance of a PRO assault suit with only 2 modules fitted.
By the way, I used to do quite a bit of dropship piloting myself. I'd love for more transporting via dropships to happen, but I'm afraid any larger changes would just facilitate farming. |

600 WP is a lot of WP for basically doing nothing.
I would fly my own dropship for just myself and generally outperform my entire team.
Should I get bonus points for transporting myself AND getting stuff done in the process? No? Don't see why any other pilot should then. Just an excuse for players with an incredibly limited skillset to feel relevant... and they aren't, unless they are killing people with that dropship. |

He transported the rest of us.
I would never suggest that it should be viable in competitive play (in the current format, at least), but I know a few players who haven't any particular interest in slaying, with an ADS or without; I know one fellow who spends his time entertaining himself by ramming and roadkilling in his Incubus, for lack of something better to do. I know another guy who desperately misses his Eryx.
There's a role there, and our AVing was not only constructive (considering that we killed more than half a dozen tanks over the course of the match) but was only possible because of the support.
The transport assists were introduced as a way for DS pilots to feed themselves without resorting to ADSes or AFKing. They've failed singularly at this role.

If hauling your team around the map is doing nothing, than a logi that only drops hives, uplinks and holds a repper on a fatty is also doing nothing. Yet that logi can rack up thousands of war points while a DS pilot gets next to nothing.
But I think we can all agree the logi is supporting his team. Just like we should agree the DS pilot is also supporting his team by transporting, providing intel, distracting infantry who went av to try and kill the DS, and providing a platform and turrets teammates can use to kill from. Yet the points that pilot make are minimal.
A DS pilot could provide aerial support and taxi service for his team an entire game and make less wp than a player who dropped two uplinks and then afked the entire match.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
