Slightly off topic, but games like this have always made me wonder if this is where we might head in the direction, the nullification, and the repercussion of our decisions in regards to death. Then again maybe I think too much.

No secret, just experience, I'm sure many soldiers have the same (or similar) 'numbed' feeling towards death after viewing it for extended periods of time over and over again.
There's this feeling of 'I've seen it all before' that comes to you at some point, especially if you're unfortunate enough to have taken lives as well.
Though not without some mental repercussions I assure you, haha.
