No more stealth tanks, lavs or dropships please. they should be a constant on the minimap. altough please do away with the aspect where headlights show up through walls. A kitten dies every time a tank sneaks up on someone.

You're asking for the wrong thing. You should be asking for a fix in passive scanners for dropsuits, as they don't (for some reason) scan vehicles. Active scanners however do.

OP, it pretty obviously does matter.

The fact that vehicles don't show up consistently is, I imagine, a result of lag and the speed of the vehicles.

They actually have a profile of 150, from memory (someone checked the stat dump or something).

And for the record, they ARE always visible on the overmap.

ahhhh...ok, so maybe there's something going on with how it transfers to the game world. hopefully it gets fixed in Legion.

Pretty much. I recently trained each of the profile and scanning skills to 4, and I'm disappointed to report that I -still- don't pick up other mercs, or even vehicles, through passive scanning. It seems that outside of a scout suit passive scanning is pretty worthless. Which is unfortunate, because situational awareness is so key to both hunting and survival.

I think that anything with a profile number that is over twice our precision should be picked up at 3x our normal passive scan range. But this extended passive scan should not be shared on the Tac-Net, otherwise Scouts would be broadcasting the position of every heavy on the map.

I think that part of the problem is that most suits have an incredibly short passive scan range. By the time a Tank is close enough to show up it is right on top of you.

Well, it's most likely because I try to say things as real as possible, and don't sugarcoat anything. Yes I come off as negative, but I don't do it to anger others, it's because I don't think that the idea is very solid, or won't really help dust/legion grow (or even hinder it long term).

I was thinking that maybe it would just be a vehicle thing. Like say every vehicle other than T II's that focus on stealth would get it? Or it could just be a "X vehicle is scanned at X range regardless".
