Dear all y'all at CCP
May you please fix the redline timeout, pretty please with a cherry on top? I have died due to timeout in the red countless times with 7+ seconds to go.
After I kill my foes, I need time to get back to safe ground.

Were you on the ground or in the air? I have this happen a lot in my python, and since I usually make it out with only about a second left there really is no margin for glitches |

It happens to me all the time both in air and on ground; anywhere between 3 to 8 seconds off.

I find that I die around 5 seconds in the red line only if I try to kill or hack something. If I'm just wondering around looking for a sniper, I die once the time expires.

I have to agree that the timer should either work as intended (i.e. if there is 8 seconds left and i'm right at the edge about to make it out I shouldn't suddenly keel over) or be increased substantially to make up for the bug.
Personally, I think the timer should be a full 2 minutes. No more Thales 350 meters in their red line. no more bricked out sentinals on top of the MCC if my Incubus can be in there for two minutes jacking you up. No more rail tanks just chilling in the back for that 2/0 after 12 minutes of playing for 10 games in a row. Now I can come chase you with a missile tank and have a legit shot
It's not like it's that much better now when you are pushed into the red line. If you got pushed that far back then should have picked a better corp or squad to go with IMO.

For hunting isolated snipers or groups of snipers it might be a pretty good idea but for redlined teams it would be a massive cluster fuk.
The redline is supposed to be a place where a team can regroup. I've seen some good pushes and battles at the redline when the two teams try to break out/try to prevent breakout.
Redlined teams would just disappear deeper behind the redline and the game would turn into snipe/counter-snipe. Or the redlined team would rubber band in the MCC. They might even just quit the game.

40 seconds is far better than 20 seconds. I think that works. My whole point is that an extended amount of time in the redline will force players taking advantage of the redline to be more cautious. I can't tell you how many times I flew deep (and I mean deep) into the redline with my 35k or so gorgon, 2k mlt heavy with hmg and just took out the sniper. I would love to be able to, safely, do the same thing and get back out. I think it is a game changer.
The problem is there are players that consistently use the redline as a crutch for the fact they suck at the game if they don't. Extended time in the redline will breed better players or quiters. To some people, the redline is the only place they believe they can contribute. I've literally been in pickup squads where people were sniping outside of the redline and get killed and they go on some rant about "that's why I don't go out of the redline".
Anyway, 40 seconds is better than 20 seconds.

its been a problem for months if not years, they aren't gunna fix it anytime soon if ever, just remember that theres two different times, one for ground and one for sky, when you go in it will usually be sky and if you get low the ground timer will overwrite it and be wrong.

Odd. That's never happened to me, and I have spent a good bit of time running on the other side of the redline...generally when stomping the other team. I don't use vehicles, so all my experience is on the ground and I don't do it that often, but I do find it odd that it's never happened to me. |
