I'm a bit of a new player and quite frequently whatever team I am on gets absolutely steamrolled by tanks and dropships. I have tried the two frequently advertised anti-vehicle weapons the Swarm Launcher and Forge Gun. I have hit a dropship a dozen times with the swarm launcher and every few seconds the thing goes back to full health. I've seriously seen the same dropship doing laps around the map and no one can kill it.
Am I the only one thinking that either is thinking that its near pointless to try to kill vehicles and that the shield boosts make it impossible? |

cheap and effective way is getting a militia heavy suit and militia forge gun and heavy damage amp for high slot even if you dont destroy them you might drive them off.
shield tank on vehical is burst tank and dosnt last long.. its the tripple rep armor tankers which are a pain to kill.

I've honestly tried everything that I can to kill tanks and dropships but at most they back up and flee for 15 seconds and after that its back to full health. |

If no one has introduced you to the Jihad Jeep, you should try it. Throw some REs on a cheap LAV and the rest is self explanatory.

Personaly I like fighting vehicles you know: tanks, lav, and dropships. Here are some of the things I learn.
1.) Get nades either flux or A/V. - You can use flux or A/V nades to remove the shield of tank, and then fire your swarm. -Personaly I like the Packted A/V nades, since just 2 of them can kill a lav. The down side is that you need to get closer.
2.) You need at least an Adv. Swarm. -It gets 1 more missile, which is equivalent to an extra 220HP. -Get at least level 3 for reload in order to reload faster. -Shoot up this makes it harder for you to get detected, and easier for your swarm to hit the target & not a structure. -Get 2 dmg mods for light weapons. -If you're goin to lvl up capacity go for 3 or nothing, other wise you have wasted your time which you could've use to run.
3.) You have to stay on their tail.
4.) Even if they flee it's still a win, because you just buy your team time to regroup and heal. -You also get to reload & restock.
5.) You can use a Mass Driver on dropships who get closer to you. Also when they do trow all your A/V nades.
6.) Get a good side arm, like the Submachine Gun, in order to fight back people who are on foot.
7.) Personaly I like th swarm over the forge gun, because I find it easier to hitting moving targets -specially dropships.
8.) Get a nanohive so you can restock and heal or get near a Supply Unit -they are also great for cover.
9.) Don't waste your ammo when they vehicle is hardern, glowing yellow, the dmg they receive during that time is lessen. -Use this time to reload, restock, relocate and get a lock.
10.) If you plan on using Remote Explosive, I would suggest getting a Minmatar scout suit. Fit it with a cardio and speed mod, so you can do a quick hit and run.
11.) Read this guide on Swarm: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=890802 |

Aim at different spots on the vehicle you will see your efficiency readout change. The efficiency read out is the little block of text at the bottom of the screen that tells you Dropsuit or Vehicle type and tier, damage efficiency HP, and such

Soma/Madruger (armour base) and Sica/Gunnlogi (shield base) take a lot more damage if you shoot the power generator/engine, located at the rear of the tank, between the treads and beneath the back of the top turret.
Dropships take more damage if you shoot the VTOL engines on either side.

the weakspot for caldari tanks is those little 'propane tanks' on the back (you'll see weapon efficiency jump from 90% to 168% with a forge gun). For a madrugar its between the two treads in the back.
On LAV's it's actually a really specific portion of the front bumper (it's prettymuch not worth your while to bother with trying to hit it). On dropships it's on the thrusters/back.

even pilots and drivers have to accept that they can't always destroy the enemy vehicle, sometimes we can only tie the vehicle up but that vehicle is no longer attacking our team. getting the kill is just a bonus.

Sadly, new players aren't very effective against vehicles because it does take a bit higher tiered gear to start showing some progress. However, note that them just running away is in itself a win. Most tankers and DS pilots still survive my proto swarmers when I solo. If I tag team with a forger, they're toast. But I'm solo a lot of the time lately and honestly, I'm just glad I can drive them away often so they aren't just steam rolling my team.
Also, for extra crispy tanks, they do have a weak spot in the butt, but their ultimate weakspot is actually in the belly. Proximity mines have netted me more tank kills than any other AV weapon combined. However, if you go that route SP wise, you really limit yourself to only dealing with half of the AV spectrum.
