NPRZ (NinjaPirateRobotZombie) used to do this when he played. He would call in a tank on one of the tall towers on Line Harvest, and sit on the steep edge of it with his tank. He had to continuously be moving backwards just to stay on.

Yeah, I know you can call vehicles in the rooftops but I think that it should be reserved only to dropships... honestly, I never considered the tower tanks a viable tactic but this tank in particular gave my team a headache by locking down the entire area of the supply depot, only an orbital forced him to come down.

First, spider tanking used to refer to using remote shield boosting and/or armor repairing to keep other tanks operation during heavy tank action. All of that functionality has been removed from the game because it was too hard. For ccp. Although it still seems to be working fine in eve from what I understand.
Second, the picture is a tank that has been dropped on top of a building. There are many, many places to do that in the game. It is odd when one considers that many objects have bad mesh issues that will blow up a tank on the ground but have never been fixed while there are even more places that an ordinary mercenary can get stuck. God forbid you wear a heavy suit and cannot step into an objective.
However, this is a dumb but honored tradition in dust to allow tanks to be place nearly everywhere a mercenary can get to and then call an remote deployment vehicle to drop a tank. Very odd when one considers that using the same method will leave a tank hanging in the air or yo-yo-ing up and down for minutes when a vehicle is requested in the normal drop zones.
But this is dust.

Roof tanks are total ADS bait, like king kong vs an apache that just hovers out of his range instead of planes...

Drop ship, drop a cloaked scout, RE's, it moves or dies. It's that simple.
Other option. Put RE's on your drop ship. Drop it on top of the tank, CORRECTLY. Detonate it. It MAY take a couple of tries before you get good at this trolling act but it's worth it.
