Well it seems it is common knowledge now that you can stack python skills with a gunner. This means at full skills a gunner can double his damage and increase the ROF by 100% I would say this is pretty over powered. Yes it does take quite a few skill points to do but its really scary to see the devastation it causes even from a pilots point of view.
The assault dropship skill and the racial assault dropship skill shouldn't stack.
The gunner role should have some perks though, so if a gunner skills into the turret those should stack. Rotation speed, reload time, and ammo skills should remain stackable with the pilot. It doesn't give you a rediculous advantage but does give the gunner an edge in battle.
Though I will say that unless the gunner is amazing and doesn't explode having stacked python skills is just about the only way to destroy a tri rep Maddie. |

I know a group of guys in STB that did that one match. It was friggen hilarious and scary. But it was even better when the pilot and his gunners crash landed because two forge gunners(myself included) shot it at once, and caused it to nose dive because the pilot hit the afterburners right as the ship was shot.
That's awesome. If people are okay with it because dropships can be countered then I'm all game. Though it does feel pretty rediculous |

Judge Rhadamanthus wrote:This does need a careful review. But as a starting comment try not to confuse powerful with overpowered. I played with infantry players Shley Ashes and John mcgeachy most nights. They often get 30 plus kills with few deaths. Not in proto either. Maybe a proto gun but an advanced suit. In other words, they wear an easily affordable suit that takes an average amount of skill points to run well. (not gal scouts)
Compare this to the Gunner manned python. The Guns reduce the fit to a glass cannon. I Use these as do the pilots I fly with. They almost never cause as many deaths or ISK loss on the enemy team as the two players on the top of the chart.
So while I am at this point not saying it does not need a change remember to look at it in this way. It is two players with high skill points in proto ship with proto guns. So they should be compared to two other proto players with many skill points. Dropships like this rarely match in WP or kills the top infantry players in a match.
Tanks, Swarms Forges can take these ships down with ease. Yay I was hoping to see it be judged. It does need to be looked at closely, I've flown with lvl 3 pilots as gunners and the ROF difference is noteable but not much more powerful. When I was flying with a max skill pilot the missiles came out so fast my first thought was, wow this is scary and quite possibly overpowered. Though most gunners I fly with tend to shoot in bursts or time the shots themselves rather than just unloading missiles, unless its a tank or dropship. A good gunner doesn't need the ROF increase to preform exceptionally. It is true that gunner fit pythons don't usually cause the same kills a good slayer team can cause, but when I fly with my gunners they usually top the board with 2500+ wp because of all the yummy assists.
Either way the ROF and DMG won't truly effect a good gunner, I just want to make sure the gunner skills for reload, tracking and ammo stay. Gunners should get some bonus for applying skill points into the gunner role. |
