So I'm currently upgrading my PC, not just for Legion, for other games too, but Legion is a key consideration. I got a good deal on a R9 graphics card, but have heard rumors that CCP products don't support Radeon cards and that a GTX is a better option. Is there any truth to this?

There is absolutely no truth to this. There might be some proprietary technology like PhysX in the game (the nvidia rep at the graphics presentation all but confirms that) but to say Legion won't run on an AMD card is just downright false. Most of the technology in Legion should be available to AMD cards just fine.
I just scored a sweet deal on an R9 290. Used mining cards are flooding the market, its a good time to snag one for sure. |

Pretty sure mine is a used mining card as well. What exactly does this mean?

I did a little bit of reading on whether or not mining would wear out a card faster or anything but i'm not finding any evidence that the cards are 'on their last legs' so to say. As electronics don't have moving parts, they don't 'wear' in any sort of traditional manner. There might be component degradation over time.. though I don't think these cards have been used long enough for that to be a serious concern.
AMD cards used to be the premier bitcoin mining tool for the last 8-12 months or so using something called 'Scrypt' iirc. however, with the release of ASICs (application specific integrated circuit) - those are far more efficient at bitcoin mining than AMD cards. So all of the serious bitcoin miners are dumping their 45 card farms for these new ASICs. This flood of used cards has driven down prices quite nicely. The cards aren't being dumped because they are no longer usable or broken though, only because something newer and shinier has come along. |

I'm building a PC now, not necessarily for Legion, though if it happens to play it decently then it's a bonus.
Anyway, I got the GTX 750 Ti for $150 ($140 with the rebate). The price/performance/power balance was pretty much perfect for me. It supposedly only draws 60W. Also got a Haswell refresh CPU. I'm going for a power efficient, cool, and quiet build that could work in a living room. It also needs to support OSX. I know there is no maxwell support yet for that, but I'm just assuming there will be at some point.
Only decision left is my case. I was originally going to get the Bitfenix Prodigy, but I think now I'm going with the Silverstone SG08 Lite. I really like the prodigy, but it's just a little too big, and apparently the cooling performance of the SG08 is pretty much on par. |

Get a nvidia card, Nvidia is a partner for CCP.
Just look at whats happening with Watch Dogs release. Somethign similar might end hapening with Legion, where the game will be nvidia optmized.
I am 90% sure it wont matter, but thats one thing to consider. |

Thats a nice case. I like the Corsair ones more, but cases having good cable management systems, good airflow and being ~toolless~ is all that matters, all else is personal taste ;) |
