Yes the Dust514 is the FPS equivalent to what Dust is to Soil. But despite that would have one game mode that is a staple on many FPS games, kept some players? The game mode is CTF.

I know. I past time of many FPS players to unwind or even get competitive. Discuss. 
EDIT: For those not familiar with what CTF stands for I'll let one of you forum blokes enlighten that. (I mean that has to still be a few FPS players here) |

Entirely possible, but not with the maps we have.
You'd also inevitably come up against NS with three blaster tanks in a circle around the base and 3 more rails in the hills wiping out anyone trying to cross the vast open plains every planet in New Eden is primarily composed of.

Personally i believe that even with more game modes the destiny of dust would have been always the same.
CCP remind me the ents of LOTR, they take too much time to decide everything and while they are deciding, the things around them are evolvingand they can't keep up.
Finally they take a decision, the community gets angry because they are console players and most of them will not be able to play on PC (because they don't have a gaming rig).
If CCP had announced a ps4 version at FF, not many players would have left.

Actually, dom is just king of the hill.....skirm is super king of the hill, but i think a better one for player retention would've been any mode with squads banned
