Carbon graphics engine + the whole scene was also scripted and filmed under CCP's trailer making tools using existing assets. As one could say this was a target visual goal to reach for dust 514. Sadly PS3 coupled with the wonkiness of UE3 modifications at the time disallowed for it.

Everytime they have tried to use it (other than demos,) they have failed. I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.

The problem that I think I hate the most about the video is visualization < game functionality. We've had way too many games in over 2 years that "look good" but play horribly; bad mechanics, a general unbalance that makes gameplay utterly irritating and not a very well thought-out vision to how the game progession keeps players and allow for a low barrier of entry while allowing for general improvement. Even if Legion looks better than the demo video, it comes down to whether its overall functionality and gameplay are to par with those visuals and I feel like it won't be.

Sadly it became a "thing" to lure people with stunning looking graphics and then you end up with much less. CCP is not the only developer who did that, Ubisoft done that too with watchdogs. Just look at the early trailers and then compare it to the final product. The reason behind this is to get people to preorder the game or in dust's case buy a merc pack to get into the closed beta. And once you realised what you've got its too late.
