DUST has no skill reallocation/respec feature. When there is a massive change, such as the complete rework of vehicles or when the other racial suits were added, CCP will reset the SP you have invested in the skills that were changed. I have bee playing since the start of Open Beta. I have only seen four respecs:

1. When the game officially launched of 5/14/2013.
2. About a week after launch because they really screwed up with the skills. Vehicle Engineering was improperly written (wrong bonus) and vehicle shield modules required having both vehicle shield skills and dropsuit shield skills.
3. In 1.7, the vehicle tree was completely re-done so all Skill Points in Vehicles and Turret were given back.
4. In 1.8, the Caldari, Gallente, and Minmatar Sentinel/Heavy was addeded as well as Amarr and Caldari Scout. Because of the final batch of options, they gave a respec for Dropsuit Command.

How badly is your character screwed up? If you have more than 500k SP "wasted", then restarting a new character could be worth it. Usually, you are better off shrugging it off and moving on though. Everyone has some kind of mistakes with their character that they carry with them like an albatross. Wear it with pride and try not to collect too many more.

Unfortunately this is not something CCP can do at the drop of a hat. This takes an intensive amount of manpower and it is something that is not automated yet. The most automated thing is deletion of skills from a player's head auto refund it; however the process of starting the deletion is what takes the longest as simply just clicking delete on the market simply does not remove it from everyone's head. Ever character has to be opened up and operated on basically.

Then there are the more serious problems that could occur such as the instant billionaires and god characters on accident or the missed ones.

This is why CCP is mostly always hesitant to even do a respec in Dust 514.

I don't recommend this but your best chances are is to file a petition to the GM center and chances even then are pretty low and if you do get one I wouldn't abuse the system too much an annoy the department on that front.

Next thing is to wait for a massive change on the entire front of how you play the game; this is unlikely given the nature of our next few updates.

So finally is to suggest how best to make those skills useful again; this has probably the best chance of happening in the near future.

It really seems like you're either trying to put your blame the game for bad choices or you have someone else who plays your account. If it's the latter you should do something about that.

unfortunately there are quite a few people with similar profiles in sp allocations... it is fair to say it is the game's fault for not making this more abundantly clear.

Too bad. Decisions have consequences in New Eden. Even if those consequences are provided after the fact by the developers.

The part you don't get is my "free" SP that was slowly gained over time was dumped into skills i have not selected myself.

I'm a seldom DUST player since i play EVE most of the time and my skill point allocation is all over the place for skill i have never used or knew existed. I have heard from DUST players on mics that there was a skill point reset months ago. Why has this not happened to me? It seems to me my skills were dumped into various and seemingly random places.

I have a character with a complete useless set of skills none of which i want. Before i submit a petition i will post it here so i would like a dev/gm to reset my characters skill point so I can play properly .

If you picked skills you don't want, that's your own fault.

I would just keep playing that character and build SP regardless of "waste." When/if Legion transfers SP, there will likely be a respec given the vast changes in skill tree. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The "no input on your part" is something I do not understand. Did you have 8 million SP and you suddenly see that they are all used? Like you started a DUST account and just let it build? I would say change your password and account e-mail immediately. Someone else might very well be using your account. But, yes, there is no at will respec.
