First off i know dust has no future but if it did what would be its best direction, and i'll give my opinion and like to hear all of yours, first off CCP can't do what it want with the PS3 or the new PS4 so dust would benefit by being removed from eve and becoming a seperate game where planetary fighting is truly ramped up, once seperated from eve it would have a server all to itself where it would then be able to run much larger teams with battlefield style play and with better more intricate maps, the isk payouts wouldalso be improved and you would get better pay as you allocated more SP becoming a more valuable merc ( just slipping in a way to let everyone build to running proto ) and because i know marketplace probably isn't possible create a personal transaction system like the transfer isk option and let players do personal barter in place of a fully functioning marketplace

Most likely best case scenario is an announcement by Hilmar Veigar P+¬tursson "Project Legion is to become a full blown product. It is green lit" and later an announcement by Rouge "Since it is no longer a project, we feel comfortable announcing that 'Project Legion' is DUST 514." It would dispel a lot of fear of "it is a new game!!!" and would allow DUST be what we wanted it to be (probably). Sucks big time for the console only people though. Seriously, I feel for those people.
True best case scenario is the above plus DUST 514 coming to the PS4 with linked play between PC and PS4. This allows CCP to still take the crown for first game to link PC and console. Extremely unlikely to happen; I don't think it could technically work. A truly fascinating thing if it did though. Hopefully I can look back to this post and laugh at my stupidity.
I think what will happen though is worse. Legion will come out, it will be EVE: Legion and DUST 514 will wither and die. When/if the transfer of assets happens, most people will move to Legion. There will be no significant changes to DUST and it will eventually be closed down completely. CCP will both want to wave the flag of "Legion is what we all wanted" as well as stating "Legion isn't DUST; come try it!"
As always: we can only wait and see.
