They really aren't. They have the:
-best rifle (CR)
-best sidearm (smg)
-best area denial weapon (md)
-best anti-infantry heavy weapon (hmg)
-best offensive equipment (REs)
-best commando (them bonuses and speed yo)
-former best pistol (flp R.I.P.)
-only grenade that can outright kill infantry
They're pretty darned good.

Apart from the commando, which is pretty much just best commando.

And don't forget the scout, which is the best hacker in the game.
The logi is pretty damn good for repping too.

some of the suits have issues. I think the biggest problem with a number of them is the low PG. The Min commando suit is a good suit, but the PG is unrealistically low given what the suit is intended for. Fitting a kin cat on that suit at any level other than proto is difficult without sacrificing. From what I've read, the min scout suffers the same problem. I find the min logi is pretty good all around.

The STM is amazing on all the suits, yea my heavy has lowest ehp but damn he can move with a balance slot layout. My logi is ****, balanced slots and 4 equipment make it the most versatile suit in the game. Did have to trade my scout of the Cal but it really wasn't that bad. As for the pg, lvl up your cores and opts scrub.
Comando is for scrubs who need more weapons and ehp, you'll look tough but fall like the rest when you realize that you can't aim your RR and SG.
Assualt classes are still broken across the board. Give them all the 2nd equipment and maybe beter sheild regen and watch the number of scouts drop.
