i cant think of any current weapons that qualify as suppression weapons, yet i keep seeing the term suppression used (commandos in particular)
do we have any suppression weapons, or am i using one and just using it incorrectly? |

If it reached out past 40 meters i would say the HMG is a suppression weapon. |

Mass Driver.
Nothing says "GET TO COVER *****" more than explosive shells being fired from a grenade launcher.
Laser Rifle is also one, as it can't kill people who play with cover (going in and out of cover to take quick shots at you) due to damage being low until heating up a bit .
It just keeps them in cover, promising to do massive damage if they dare get out.

massdrivers and HMG's. You dont get the blur effect like from battlefield but i would think twice to pop my head out when a fatty is looking my way. |

Anything that can control players rather than just killing them qualifies as suppression.
Laser Rifle and Mass Driver are the obvious candidates.
But flux nades, nades in general, remotes, proxies.
Assault HMG is excellent. It's terrible at killing, but all you need to do is hit people and they'll be more reluctant to do whatever it is they were planning.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Sniper Rifle. Nothing suppressed me quite so much in this game as the knowledge a Sniper was watching. I used to go minutes out of my way to neutralise those threats.

idk about the mass driver as its just as likely to force someone out of cover and charging towards you as it is at forcing them into cover
laser rifle feels suppressive. that beam of light makes me feels as though the Eye of Sauron is upon me... burning through to my very soul. ugh. lol
but then thats only two weapons that qualify. the HMG cant keep sustain fire long enough and its reload and heat mechanic hinders it as well.
so eventually itd be nice to get a gallente and caldari weapon that qualifies. youd think that the caldari would have tons of them seeing as they like fighting at range anyways |

Really? Have you ever heard the term "cover me"? Shoot at a point that enemy targets are trying to cross or fire from and keep them dodging. Any weapon is a suppression weapon.

oh so my shotgun counts then? how about my ion pistol? i thought maybe, you know, some weapons were better than others at it, but i guess i can swing my nova knife at them and if they dont shoot me then i guess im "suppressing" them right? |

the gallente heavy weapon could be some sort of plasma burst weapon that fires 4-5 plasma rounds infornt of him for say 20 to 30 meters. each one dealing 100 or 150 damage. so basically a heavy shotgun. but has a clip size of 12 and a slow re-fire rate.
anything caught in its sights gets melted to sludge.
