What do the minmatar get out of this relationship, and what do the Gallente get out of it? Ps. I am new to the lore of this game. |

Nothing... IC wise the relationship between the Min and Gal is tenuous at best with the Min populous within the Federation is socially discriminated against by hardline Pro Gallentean social blocs, recent news out of the Federation regarding the killing of several Gallentean men in self defence by a Matari man were high profile.
Not to mention the Death of Karin Midular at the hands of Gallentean born Broteau and the subsequent deployment and skirmish between Gal and Min naval forces over his custody.
And then the decisive move to fundamentally disband the Gallentean established system of Republic in favour of Tribal Leaders taking a more central role......
Link is only beneficial to the Minmatar because of Gallentean financing, and only beneficial to the Gallente because the Minmatar put their entire population between them and the Amarr.

Caldari are as small nation, independent but economically powerful and socially conservative.
Amarr have great stake in the Caldari economy having bailed them out previously.

I think the Minmatar-Gallente alliange can be summarized with the phrase meat shield, and the Amarr-Caldari one as the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
