Nah, but tanks are different. First, a scrubby militia tank is fully capable of taking out a proto fit Maddy or Gunni with a little caution/skill/luck. Most people need a lot of caution/skill/luck to do the same as militia infantry versus protatoes.
Also, there aren't any tiers for tanks, so what else do you expect? Learning to pilot vehicles in Dust is expensive and is fraught with disappointment (at least for me), so the option that's less expensive by half, but about 85% as effective, is sort of a no brainer.
Blame CCP for ret@rded game design and their brand of Balance-¬.
And on this note, I'm actually pretty fed up with the SP system. I'm @ 25M SP and can play my skilled-up roles well enough to have a good time solo, but it's like no matter what I want to try next, there's always the contingent that cries about n00bz and skrubz, not realizing that everyone needs to start somewhere. If everyone had access to the same equipment and that equipment worked the same for everyone from the git (#tiericideFTW), maybe the current crop of protatoes and try hards would STFU because they'd have competition other than the dudes they've been making eye contact with since this circlejerk started. |

I never, ever sit in the redline. Ever.
I do use a single dmg mod on a soma and a std rail gun at a strictly anti-tank fit. Only real use is for flanking tanks and demolishing from the rear(hehe, rear)

Of course, because when i lose a 500K ADS, I just lost all my profits from the next 4-6 matches. I can't possible keep that up without BP/MIL suits/gear/weapons

Meh its not like tanking is hard nowadays....and its not like I have Amarr HAV. So losing tanks means nothing to me....especially while I am trying to make Khanid HAV on Shield Hulls, which is incredibly fun...... or derping around in 6500 Armour HP or even my favourite and incredibly funny (dukes it our with Nyain San HAV) 8000 Armour HP HAV.
