Possible reasons:
1. People, for some reason, still have faith in CCP.
2. Somebody paid a miner farm to do it for them.
3. CCP is doing it to boost player counts.
4. Some people are stupid and need to run proto even against the pond scum left playing this game.
5. Logging in and creating characters become someones entire Dust experience. They are just logging in to "play?
Really I don't know, but they must be crazy, whomever they are .
Real AV doesn't stop until all the tanks are dead.

Which is stupid. If CCP is smart, they'll make it easy to sell characters. 50+ million characters will be the norm before Legion enters Beta. Let the PC guys buy our 2 years of time and effort.

Simple
1) DUST is still a pretty good game and those who enjoy will still play it.
2) If isk farmers are still creating 700 chars an hour, that 700 chars that also come up on active players
3) People are still active waiting to move over legion
4) The amount of people that quit, brought more than numbers to the game, as evidenced by the fact that those that remain want to know where all the tactics have gone.

As someone who has played since beta, had proto for a very long time, I used to exclusively use blueprints and militia gear, up until recently when I decided.... all of this isk and SP I have ... I never use it?
So I decided to start using proto, yes my meta needs updating, yes I have a lot to learn but my god - using proto instead of militia seriously increases KDR and survivability in general. [duh] |

Well its a dull and repetetive process. And i dont need to do silly stuff like that. I can run proto day and night and because i rarely die i even make profit while actually playing. If you cant afford proto then you shouldnt run it to begin with that or you might want to buy AUR instead. |

Seeing as CCP never seemed to stop it (let alone acknowledge it), they could be a very small number of ppl running scripts. We also don't know exactly how they define someone who is logged in. Without the equivalent number of biomassed mercs in the same charts, it's a pretty one-sided stat.
Must admit I was expecting the server population charts to dip dramatically....but as someone else pointed out, if these account farmers are counted in the same stats, then none of it really means ****

That's entirely possible, to be sure. Tbh, I would not be surprised, at all, if that was part of the original "plan" (if you can call it that).

It may sound silly only getting 1.5mil per account every what...8 hours was it?
But multiply that by 700 accounts....that's a lot of money in a short amount of time without having to step foot in the games ****** atmosphere. |
