Since lessons were learned developing on a dated console will CCP continue to work on a heavily modified Unreal 3 engine or will we make the jump to Unreal 4? |

Already been answered. Staying with CCP's heavily modded version of 3.

While i would like it to be UE4, well, theres good games about in UE3, so it all really comes down to the quality of the code.
If the code is bad, no engine will save you but for the added hype at launch. |

Compared to DUST, legion will have a heavily modified UE3 engine which makes it almost the same as UE4 to some extent.

But lets face it UE3, no matter how modified, has become absolete with the release of UE4. It might be easy for CCP to use UE3 now, because they understand it and they have there programs and tools for it. But by using UE4 from the start with legion, since it's nothing more then a prototype at this moment. They save them selfs time in the future, because at one point or the other they are going to have to port legion over to UE4, if they want to make the game better, only then the game will be a hole lott bigger, thus more work to make changes. Or am i seeing this wrong, do they really believe that UE3 will be able to compete with other games, by just modifying it, surely UE3 does have it's limits in comparison with UE4. |

A better engine doesn't always equate to a better game. Gameplay can often trump that. Look at halo 3, team fortress 2, and a lot of the older games. Sure they're dated at this point but they have a strong following not because of the engine but because of the gameplay.
If legion can achieve that with the UE3 engine, then upgrading to the UE4 is just mainly for eye candy.
