I never had the money to enjoy the miniatures; I heard Dawn of War was close but far away representation and that so far nobody has really done a true to book game yet or if they did was not widely popular.

Space Marine had it's issues but was nonetheless fun. I still play the exterminatus co-op every once in a while if I have some aggression I need to work out.
Quitting cold turkey was impossible. The forum patch is helping me kick the habit!

Are you one of those guys that has a cabinet in his house with an army in it?
I painted one, it didn't end well.
Why there hasn't been a good movie adaptation about that franchise is beyond me.

Dawn of War was a sweet game. But then I love RTS games, if I didnt play Starcraft 2, I would go straight back to Dawn of War.
Granted none of this is DUST related but I love dust too, its just CCP hasn't made an RTS game yet..... * hint hint * |

I was pretty upset thq dropped the ball on the mmorpg.
Was really looking forward to another good game in the 40k universe.
Perhaps one day...
@ IWS the DoW series itself is still enjoyable, and continues to have a following. I was surprised when I hopped on multiplayer.
But yea, the real table top game is by far better and definitely expensive. Fuckin little metal pieces.

So I guess I'm the only one who still remembers Rogue Trader... 40k is not the awesome grim, dark universe of old :(
If CCP can get Andy Chambers to be part of the team for Project Legion then it might actually be good :D

None of the games ever came close but seeing models in real time and being able to 'paint' them in minutes instead of hours was nice. The video games were always limited though.
You had stuff from the table top in the games that functioned in some resemblance to the rules but nah.
Dawn of war 2 retribution is great but the armies are puny, its platoon-squad level play.
I have a 2500 point imperial guard army that cost a few hundreds plus paint, glue etc.
A 2500 point space marine army, about the same.
A 2000 point eldar army.
Its chess with more options and depth basically, freedom of sorts.
I have not table topped for about 5 years though, its too expensive for most people so I only have 1 buddy who is/was into it.
There's all different tabletop games ranging from cyber punk, ancient, sci fi, fantasy etc. I'm getting into ww2 6mm model gaming with my dad soon, he's getting old and we need something yo do together.
I shall be collecting, painting and using the British armoured division that my great grandad was in during ww2. It was the 11th aka 'Black Bull'.

40k is amazing and if GW got their sht together then most MMOs would be in trouble.
It has more lore and stories than star wars and a whole other mapped galaxy to boot.

Battlefleet Gothic was my go-to game. 40k/EvE mash-up, very tactical, amazing minis. Love it so much I scratch-built my Tau armada out of kit-bashed Tau battle suits and the like. Kinda proud of them.
Glad to know I'm not the only mini man around these parts.

I once had a Slaanesh Chaos Space Marines army (NOISE MARINES!!!).
I played all kinds of W40K video games and even the Collectible Card Game made by Sabertooth Games. I was known as "Fatiquant" back then on the forums.
I read tons of novels.
W40K was my favorite lore/universe until I found New Eden.
My alts: General John Ripper, Draxus Prime, MoonEagle A, Cat Merc, Long Evity, DeadlyAztec11 and Sinboto Simmons.
