I'm intrigued by the possibility of using my Eve avatars for Legion.
I'm conflicted about the possibility of merging Luk Manag with my Eve Online solo industrialist Managalar. I don't know if I would want the hassle of maintaining two accounts, though there might be some dual-boxing benefits, it hurts MMO persona cultivation and immersion.
I can't tell if CCP has given any thought into having a single world MMO where you have to have a new character for every different sub-game, but somebody should look into some plan to unify the different avatars.
I think it would be awesome if my Fenrir freighter captain could personally defend his ship when assaulted by a mercenary boarding party. I would of course also have an open contract to hire my own army of cannon fodder to defend the ship.

My guess is the "one name with multiple clones" is CCP talk for "Battle.net tags." That is my guess. I friend you, I make you a special type of friend, and you can see my "Clone Name" and tell what CCP game I am playing and how to contact me. Otherwise you are looking at MASSIVELY changing address books and the like. "Wait, who is this Alfred Hitchels person in my contacts list now? Wait, Luk Manag is now known as Alfred Hitchels?" I see it being extremely annoying. Also, I can imagine that spies are going to absolutely hate this.
If it is the same account, I can see very little benefit out of wanting your Legion guy on the same account as your EVE guy. If they are on separate accounts, you can call in personal Orbital Support rather than having to have another EVE account though I think there are more people with 3 EVE accounts than those with 1.

It is a thorny concept for sure. There are various bits of embarrassing trivia for CCP, like 'half a million Eve players' means 200k people who run a bunch of accounts.
Thus far, CCP has encouraged dual boxing and loading up on alt accounts...and at a certain point it's just going to be ridiculous. I'll have my 3 eve accounts each with alts, my Legion main and 2 alts, and soon a Valkerye pilot and alts, and the New Eden "population" will be advertised as 5 players (accounts).

I clicked the link on my phone and the app didn't preserve the start time, so I ended up listening to the video from the beginning. I watered the garden, and my cherry trees, then I made dinner, and eventually chromecasted the video on the wall screen...so I heard/watched the whole thing. I see now that the link has a time marker. They played the Eve:Forever video twice lol...and it was pretty awesome! I'm going to be mad if I don't see merc boarding parties.
They have plans for a cross platform persona manager, with a sci-fi backstory of clone consciousness transfers. Good.
Yes it is good, but I assume it will be optional which mains and alts and accounts might merge, or may be linked... I may assign my alts to merge into an alt persona maintained by the new persona management software.... I usually run my own fleet in Eve, and pay 3 separate subscriptions, so I may want to preserve the ability to run them concurrently.

Unity sounds like the better plan, take all the great ideas into 1 game, giving all EVE players the ability to skill for weapons, and Valkyrie ect and dust players the abililty to train to pilot ships,
it would make the game appeal to a larger player base, and it makes complete sense.
