Shotguns need to be nerfed, either the rate of fire or the damage.
Scouts should not be able to take heavies head-on (one on one) in CQC and win as much as they lose.
This is the only thing that still annoys me about the 1.8 patch.
How do you kill that which has no life?

Here we go again.
Okay. How many shotguns did you see in use before 1.7? How many did you see in use after 1.8? What major item was introduced in 1.8? Is there a way in which that can be used that drastically improves use of the shotgun?
Do you think that might have something to do with it?
There is no reason that a weapon with a 4m optimal should not be able to kill a heavy at point blank range.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I agree that the shotgun was fine before and that the real problem is cloak + shotgun. But the cloak is here to stay and right now there is an imbalance.
I won't stop playing or cry that it's unfair, just pointing out the imbalance and an easy, practical way to fix it.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm no, shotguns are still unreliable sometimes with hit detection(still), and the shotgun is an alpha dmg point blank gun with 5m range, it was crap before, now its meh, every rifle outperfoms it greatly, the only benefit is the alpha dmg and the shock of the enemy when you shoot it, it still requires 2-3 shots to kill a common suit and 3-5 shots to kill a heavy depending on range

What imbalance? That a point blank range weapon is able to kill a heavy that it flanks? That's not an imbalance. If you mean that people are able to decloak and fire instantly, then yes, I'd agree.
But there is no problem with a shotgunner being able to kill a heavy. It's the shortest ranged weapon in the game, and it still doesn't outDPS the HMG.
If you lose to a scout in frontal 1v1 combat as a heavy it isn't the shotgun, it's you.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

Was easier to kill pre 1.8 with the shotgun. The cloak makes a meh weapon unbalanced. Please nerf the cloak not my already nerfed to the ground shotgun. Ta

Heavies and Scouts are both different kinds of counters to Assaults and Logis. Against each other, one-on-one, it makes sense for them to come out even.
If a Scout is harassing you as a Heavy, all you need is one person of any other class to back you up to ensure the Scout loses. There's very little chance a Scout is going to have backup too. |

My scout is 160/160 if you can't kill that head on then I'm sorry bro, but it's you, shotguns got changed from rof proficiency to shield damage, so a proto pro five sg does aprox 610 shield damage first shot and bout 550 armor, plus headshot bonus. Plus it now shoots slower than it used to, so if you got 1200 plus HP and I have 320 and your dying headon fights then you really should never get caught alone!

I haven't played in 1.8 But in 1.4-1.7 shotguns were underpowered. Not by much but by enough to be noticeable.

First nerf the CR then. The assault version is a HMG that anyone, scouts included, can wear.
The shotgun range is incredibly limited. As a heavy, i only die to it when they attack me from the back, which is fine. From the front i can see them even cloaked so it's not a problem. They can only kill you when you let them get close, which seems like a fair trade to me.
As i said once in other post, it's the only Gallente weapon that's actually good. Nerf it and you ruin us completely. It should be a beast in CQC, and despite of what you think, it's not as easy as spray and pray. |

Easy and Practical isn't always the best.
You want the real solution to Shotgun Cloaks?
Make Decloak last for three seconds and be unable to switch weapons until it finishes. No "switching out" of cloak. Once cloak is active, you cannot switch anything until you turn it off. Which you must wait for 3 seconds.
You will see a lot less people Running up to you and decloaking point blank, I guarentee it.

Stop it with this nonesense. The shotgun performs just like it did before and had no changes to it apart from the proficency which no longer gives rate of fire bonus. Good tanked heavys allready can take somewhere between 3~5 shots. That gun has the lowest range and if some 1 manages to get close then they should get the kill. |
