I'm not confident that the style or type of game has been released. Is it going to be a strategy game similar to StarCraft and Warcraft? Is it a FPS or maybe a 3rdPS? Maybe it will be a 2d platformer similar to the awesome PS3 PSN store game from way back about Commandos or something.

I play D3, Child of Light, and solo games

Yes and no! As I mentioned elsewhere, this is a separate game from EVE Online but is obviously set within the New Eden Universe and we want to explore that. I think it's important to realize that distinction straight off the bat. We don't want Project Legion to be the same game as EVE Online.

I think the real question is going to be whether this is more of a free-roam FPS exploring type of game based on certain environments that are dictated in an RTS fashion by a commander, or if its going to be Lobby Shooter 514 2.0
That is a fairly valid question, but judging by Rouge's presentation I get the feeling that even the team isn't very certain its going to be anything more than an upgraded Dust with some sandbox elements, maybe eventually. |

Yeah, I'm a little concerned about that too.
There is a huge difference between sandbox and open-world (lots of MMOs are open world, few are sandboxes). Their descriptions so far of these 'Sandbox/Wild PVP' areas does leave me thinking that what is actually being offered are a bunch of sharded open world PVP areas.

But why? Have you asked what players want? Because I've seen a lot of post where people said, that they just want FPS EVE Online, and nothing more.
I support EVE Legion, but the message was very badly delivered...

There's no good reason to get rid of the massive draw that is lobby shooting. It just needs to have interplay with the open, free form, PvE/P section. Grab loot, call in a dropship or run/fly/drive back to a spaceport, then either sell the hot loot to the lobby players or use it yourself in either mode.

If they still are stubborn at trying to make a FPS, I can see why "It's not eve online but set in universe" comes in. Just make it known if you guys already know at the direction the game will be taken. It filters alot of the legion SHOULD be this and that, and can then promote on how to proceed with making it a amazing FPS game.
Relax carebears.. I see you there. Just cause it's FPS doesn't mean no PVE, or campaign. I myself don't think it should be exclusively PVP like dust. |
