I stumbled upon this facinating article of a community of players that has endured with a barebones MMO for eighteen years. As it is late, I will soon give a full account of my thoughts on the article as they pretain to our community moving forward. In the mean time I will leave the link. Please share your thoughts in the context of community, mechanics, and commitment.

Very interesting, will post thoughts when I get a chance (the boss offered to take me out to lunch, and I get paid for my time!).
I 'support' EVE:Legion. Since the PS4 is just a dream, make it easy to sell our characters and our Beta access...

Legion has to be more than a expanded version of Dust that improves on graphical quality and hardware potential. People from outside Eve are still saying that Legion looks boring, there really is not anything there to sell it on besides what we were promised in Dust.

Hopefully CCP knows that a shiny new paint job doesn't compensate for lackluster content and gunplay.

Was a nice article to read. I actually forgot about its existence entirely since UO took me away from Meridian so many years ago, since Meridian really wasn't a good game IMO. Was a nice bit of nostalgia. Actually makes me want to go check out everquest for the nostalgic joy.
Though how this pertains to Dust I have no idea. They've apparently had updates to the game with new content throughout the 18 years. Dust has halted their development of new content, as far as we know from CCP'S statement.
It's rare for a game to last a lot of years after receiving no Development, especially in the FPS genre. |
