So the game looks quite good although I didn't much care for the way the E3 demo was played out, mainly the lines the guys playing it had. I know it's just a demonstration but, I had no love for either of them.
The thing is this game is getting hyped so much just like Titanfall, the $500m budget can't be right, it sounds like they're saying that just to generate, you guessed it, more hype.
The game should sell itself though, it's made by Bungie FFS
"Halo 2 was released on November 9, 2004, making more than $125 million on release day and setting a record in the entertainment industry.[27] Halo 3, the final installment in the original Halo trilogy, was released on September 25, 2007 and surpassed Halo 2's records, making $170 million in its first twenty-four hours of release.[28]" Taken from Wikipedia [dot] Org
I was never a big XBOX guy, I didn't even like FPS games but a load of us from the village would get 2 or 3 xboxes and have LAN parties on both games. Come to think of it I don't remember what my guy was called, if I ever did well, I just remember lots of shouting, the room was never not full of shouting so I eventually stopped going.
However the original Halo games were and are still fun, I finally got an original XBOX last year, I have maybe 80 games for it.
My point being, I don't want to jump aboard the hype-train and then buy a sub-par product but if Destiny's multi player aspect can harness just a fraction of the fun from Halo 1 & 2 then it will be worth buying without a doubt!
But what is it mainly about? What's the core of the game? What sets it apart? I see people on here (a lot of people actually) saying they are going to Destiny after DUST however I see it all the time, "wait until X comes out, then I'm gone" we like to be able to say that just to be able to shove it in DUST's face and say "I'm playing something different".
We see other games as a way to "get back" at games which have annoyed us, a break, and genuine interest in the game but I think a lot of people just want something different to play to spite DUST and CCP and to tell them that their product is not as good as Destiny.
Either way I'm interested and wanted to start a thread so, I did.

First, I think the 500 million in question probably has a significant portion of that directed towards marketing. I know with movies you can sometimes find half the budget or larger going towards just the marketing.
In terms of the game play itself, I like that it is a large, immersive world that you can explore, first as PvE, then as PvP. I haven't heard much about the PvP yet save that you have to unlock it with PvE. Think of it as a NPE that makes sure that you have at least some skill into your character before you get other players into the mix.
Otherwise, I think it is the allure of having a respected developer like Bungie create a new property that is largely centered on the things that they have done best in the past; sci fi FPS.
