Think about it.
I think it's rather a mute point. It'll be one of the more less passionate posts of mine but when Dust was released it has quite a few perks to launch it:
- heavy promoting from Sony and Playstation Network (if you visited their twitter and Playstation website it was featured as well
- the PS3 was lacking any strong or recently released fps titles at the time; Resistance was long gone really and so too was MAG with Battlefield, CoD and Killzone your last FPS game titles. Homefront failed horrible by offering maps that catered heavily to snipers and brought back memories of Counter Strike that no one cared for
- it was unique in how it would approach the fps genre versus any other title
If you check the EvE forums, it does feel that even with Dust releasing on PC, CCP feels they failed to really capture enough of the PS audience and they really did. They're aiming for the EvE capsuleers and hoping with Legion that they can convert them to enjoying both games.
My problem is that playing the game either makes you feel you're just helping Legion with data research into Dust or hurting it in general because it doesn't seem player input for Dust is taken with as much sincere interest; I mean did we honestly ask for superman~esque maddys really? It just doesn't help that with CCP on the sidelines trying to avoid any major discussion of the future of Dust leaves it a gaping question mark; a lot of people don't want to play it now and people who do don't have an idea of what will honestly happen.
Legion could be everything Dust should've been but it doesn't mean it'll be free from the same game imbalances that plagued Dust nor is there a guarantee that a PC only appraoch will save Legion; the FPS community on consoles are pretty huge in general. I think they just failed to really capitalize on Dust and may not have the confidence to go up against the upcoming launch of Destiny later in the year. At some level it feels CCP is in survival mode but hitting all the wrong notes whether its Dust to World of Darkness. |

I know right? I mean if any of these "legion supporters" had been around for the early years of EvE I have no idea what they would be saying. To see CCP stick by a floundering, bug ridden, nigh-unplayable MMO to develop into the excelent spreadsheet simulator it is today, and then see them quit at dust before it has been officially released for even 6 months is just astounding.

I have a gaming PC and will likely play legion. I also have a bunch of boosters and everything thing else I spent actual money on and I still can't bring myself to log in. Dead is dead.
Your game f'ing sucks, but I'll still play it, damn you! Turns out I wont.

WAR-MONGER SLAUGHTER wrote:....let ccpee suck it and deal with their failure To be fair, they already deal with it. They've been dealing with it since 2011, mainly by firing people they no longer see as useful. The World of Darkness project/crew is dead, which crew do you think is next? (hint: it probably won't be the crew pertaining to the game that's been running since 2003).
Having said that, I would find it hard to believe that Legion wouldn't be released, but having seen what CCP Shanghai did with Dust 514, and CCP's tendency to keep resources down to the bare minimum, Legion's development is likely be as slow and cringe-worthy as it was with Dust. They may have an easier time developing for PC, but they also face a lot of new, worthy competition for people's attention.
Things do not bode well for Legion.
If only they had ignore the ignorant whines and simply devoted all these resources to station walking..... |

Did an easily accessible and vastly more powerful piece of hardware exist than the PC in the early years of EVE?
Something tells me, if a console existed (with full mkb support of course) that was around 15x more powerful than the most powerful gaming PCs at the time of the early years of EVE and it was guaranteed that PCs were going to be completely phased out in about 2 years, they most likely would have made the switch.
@OP: As someone who wants Legion to be made as quickly as possible, please lead as many of your fellow gamers away from Dust asap. I would prefer CCP has a reason to discontinue dust support asap so they can transfer over all of the devs onto Legion. |

Corpmates is all, we still play and have fun protostomping the hell out of it, and at the same time we are building arenas so our corpmates and alliance can play together in other games.
We have been looking on Destiny and The Devision its going to be our next playground, actually I love Dust 514 and was also on fanfest , but we have begun looking at the future.
So we are using Dust now to keep up the teamplay and prepare for moving over to the other 2 games, when they hit on PS4 we will go there and never look back, sorry.
We do have some players that will go down with the ship but thats not many of us, so for now the Dust 514 is a nice staging area for the next step.
We all now that its going to end, lets do the best out of it, I think I will use a long wile before I have used up all my content. |

Think about it. Im thinking about it... 1.If everyone quits Dust 514, it will lower income for CCP. 2. The dust 514 player will give legion a bad reputation (i have seen this happen with another game!!!) 3. The mass quitting will cause Legion to be "red lighted" becuase of lack of community interest. 4. CCp is so slow at development, Legion won't come out for another 3 years. The consumers during this time will find a new game. 5. If there is no community for dust, won't you lose your position?
1. If everyone quit that would be less cost of running dust 514.
2. I have yet seen this work in years of games. EA is the ultimate example of bad reputation word of mouth not working.
3. I doubt it; if anything it would redlight dust and reallocated the resources to Legion instead.
4. Legion just started development and its already at a demo-able state even with completely rebuilt assets. Dust 514 was in development 5 years prior to alpha/beta
5. There is always a community. Like how there is still a MAG community.
If you want to fight legion get more people to join dust 514 and show ccp how wrong they are and that dust 514 is still worth developing for. I wouldn't recommend spending money though because I have no idea how items are going to xfer over if/when they do.

No need to go all extremes. Just having EVE in front of legions name already gimps it to just being played by eve players. So just play if you want to play dust. just don't spend money. |

It wan't matter! Just burn all your assets already! Have you seen all the positive posts on the Legion side of the forums? As long as they have them, they will go forward with legion, not to mention the Eve supporters of Legion, for Gods sake its called "Eve: Legion" They don't care anymore! So having a mass leave, won't really do anything. Just enjoy the last dying breaths of Dust and burn all assets already.
