I've never understood how responsible gun owners believe that guns being sold as easily as candy in a candy store is in their best interest. With tighter controls you ensure that the crazy people don't obtain weapons legally therefore giving ammunition to those against your cause when they go on a shooting spree. It's so easy to see that the manufacturers are the ones worried about their sales dropping if only responsible gun owners are left as customers.

I should say that I am a gun owner and I served as an infantryman in the US Army for 7 years. I remember guys that made people nervous with weapons and they'd gone through extensive training. I know in Texas all you need is a pulse to get a concealed carry license, it's a joke how easy it is.

i wouldn't say its ignorant, although you do seem a pretty sexist view, why can't a woman defend her family too, or can she do it without a gun? what about police? are they, as a service completely ineffective in your country?
Also if you outlaw them it reduces the amount in immediate amount regulation which in turn decreases the chance that they would be used in crime.
I could understand if your clinging to this a power thing, (i.e. i have a weapon, therefore i am stronger or more deadly than you) but i wonder how you can defend those cases, where a person has used a gun to kill innocent people that shouldn't of had access to a gun to begging with?
