I have asked it on Twitter and on the forums. No answer as of yet from the developers. Considering Saberwing has pretty much humored by constant basement dweller questions, when something is not answered it is generally a good indication of something important.
But add another Joseph to the "is Legion a completely new game or is it just DUST on the PC?" question.

Please post the answer somewhere noticeable, Devs. Will probably be asked again otherwise Legion is a completely new game coming from the learning "Experience" CCP had with DUST514. They will be going down different development lines, and BOTH will still continue to be updated. EDID: Legion hasn't even finished alpha yet, so more news will be coming from it. DUST is only going to get smaller hot fixable updates and balance.
If that were true, Legion is just a completely different game and is not just "DUST 514 on the PC", why has CCP been banging the "everything you have done in DUST will transfer over to Legion" drum? If they were just different games, CCP would have not have announced it at the DUST 514 keynote and nothing would transfer because "Legion and DUST are different games."
Don't get me wrong, I want my stuff to transfer. In fact, I never wanted to play DUST as it is. I wanted to play DUST as it was promised to be. That promise seems to be Legion. I am happy that my stuff is (supposedly) going to transfer because I put money into DUST hoping it was going to be what is now Legion. But If Legion were just a different game, why would anything transfer?
I am betting that CCP will take a snapshot of everyone's DUST character and that will transfer over to Legion. After I bet a year of Legion, DUST 514 will be officially unsupported and the servers pulled. I expect the player count to drop to an all time low after Legion's release so perhaps DUST 514 dies sooner than that.
