there are 2 major things to look at when it comes to issues involving Dust...
1) Coding issues. these involve things such as maps, lag, sticky terrain, falling through the map, and the ability to add new content like maps, player market, etc...
2) Development issues. these involve things like weapon/suit/equipment balance, NPE, match making, etc...
1) ccp basically blames the PS3 for being "too hard to work on" since they are a PC company. this is a cheap cop-out excuse. hire a coder who knows how to code for a PS3 shooter... problem solved. the stance that the PS3 doesn't have enough horse-power is a joke as well. i personally feel that if ccp would have taken a cue from zipper (MAG), they would have happier players. 720p and slightly less than super crisp graphics VS smoother gameplay and content. ccp said it themselves that the large sockets take up the most RAM and cause problems. finally, porting to the PS4 would keep the people happy and holding faith in ccp, be easier to code for, and be more sensible.
so then we move to number 2...
2) development issues are not a fault of the hardware or software. it's the developers... period. if you have crappy matchmaking, OP and UP weapons/suits/equipment, and NPE in dust, and just "port" it over to Legion... it will still be crappy. no matter how good it looks, fast it runs, etc... also, these issues can be easily fixed for the PS3. people wanted to stop railgun sniping... ccp just changed the range from 599 to 300m... case closed. they can fix the NPE just as easily buy raising the " acadamy graduation" cap from 1500 to 100,000. OP and UP items can be fixed just as easily. ccp dropped the ball here. not the PS3.
the number 1 person to blame here... more than likely CCPRogue. I've played many EA Sports games over the decades. they were all full of bugs, lousy AI, and every year you had to fork out another $60 to get the "latest" updates (you Madden players know what i'm talking about). and no, i'm not going out to spend more on a gaming pc than a PS4 just for Legion. however, i would have went out and bought a PS4 if ccp said they were porting over to it.
bottom line is, if ccp was lazy with Dust, then they will be lazy with Legion. you can dress a pig up for the prom, but it's still a pig. the PC will not save Legion if ccp is half-hearted when it comes to balance, NPE, and matchmaking. believe me, i love dust. i will continue to play until the server is shut down, but after this BS... my heart just isn't in it like it used to be.
the only thing that might bring any enthusiasm back is if they have a lot of good things to say for Dust (in the 5 days or so when they said they were going to). somehow i doubt that's going to happen however. |

Very true OP.
It probably went down like this.
CCP Rouge joins, sits down and says wtf to the devs. They all cry over the ps3. He says, sweet lets go to PC and make it new so it's all MINE! Some silly non-dev secretary says shouldn't you talk with the players about what they think is wrong? Rouge... HECK NO, Let's do this!
CCP continues to make the wrong choices, one choice at a time. aka Legion.
