We all know the merc quarter would benefit from improvements to make it more interactive. When I saw the keynote presentation, it looked like a quarter where you can't move or do anything other than navigation through menus and see a nice background, which rarely change.
If the plan is to go more static, i think it would be good to know so we focus on the good base to built on. I like the top drop down menus for marketplace, dropsuit fittings, etc. For active missions on the right, what is the plan? Show available mission at a specific time or the progression? Maybe some info on this would be nice.
In case we could interact in there, alot of proposals were made to improve the current DUST version to something better and now that it is planned to go on PC, I would think of other things that would make this interesting. Here's a list of old and new proposal on top of my head:
- Corp members are all in the same room automatically, outside of corp merc can all come in by sending invite. Like chat channel basically. It could even be linked to the chat channel so when you select a channel, you get into that merc quarter. This would bring more interaction between players (depending on what there is to do in there.
- A war room, where you get a table that present a top view of the map where you can select from the various location and then draw over it for tactic discussions (a few tools available (draw lines, add defence, attack, ordering numbers and such).
- A slate table, where you can play against other player or in single player.
- A training ground, where all suits and weapon are available. Mini interior map directly integrated in the quarters. Possibility to practice fight tactics with corp mates and test equipments before you skill into them.
- Talking about salvaging in PvE, I guess the quarter could include a transformation area, where material can be converted into weapons/items.
- Since we are in a ship, we could have another small game zone, were you use the ship weapons shoot at other ships or space drones in the area. some sort of basic PvE thing. You can get levels and a leaderboard for this. |

Even though I love this idea, I can see a lot of greif coming from Capsuleers for this reason: Pilots only have access to their Captain's Quarters and Hanger (which is just a long runway) right now to walk around in.
From what you are suggesting, they would need to open up an entire station for people to walk around in. EVE Pilots have been asking for a while now for this. Maybe if they release it in EVE before Legion comes out we may be seeing it Day 1 (Just like Dust and their Merc Quarters).

I agree, I guess it would be even better to have a open station for the alliance. With some restricted area for Legion players and others for Eve players |
