I watch the keynote again, trying to forget any prior drama. Some it was great, some of it was underwhelming. So hes my thoughts on it. CCP Rouge said he wants feedback so here it is .
This decends into fanfiction later, So you can take that as "what I want to see from legion"

The demo started and the new interface screen looked amazing, I really loved the immersion, the mechanisms of war in the background. I also really loved the loading screens, they looked absolutely amazing, loved the whole visual interpretation of how a post human conciousness might travel between bodies. For me this is definitely the right direction. Its great to see CCP realising the importance of the interplay between the social capital of eve and the lore.
The point were I felt the dissappointment creeps in was where they actually went to the world, aside from the cosmetic differences it looked exactly like the orginal game. Which is a pity, they kind of got me just with the interface and loading screens. The game itself didn't seem to match, seemed tacked on somehow.
I know the experience that would have wowed me, its basically the promise they had in the beginning. This is the experience that would have completely sold me Legion, and had me squeeling like a girl with tears in my eyes.
(Please note: the narrative below is wishlisting).
CCP Rouge clicks the battle, and goes to Stain. We see the epic loading screen. From there we see an external view of our clone troop straping himself into something, maybe a pod of some kind and almost in one move he's launched from space onto the battlefield, the camera frosts up in the icy cold of space, the roar of engines in the drop pod and the camera turns. Instead of the usual terrestrial world we see a massive gas giant ominious ambient music croscendo maybe with a token god chorus. The drop pod bursts and the merc lands on to a gas mining rig! The whole drop sequences maybe lasts 4 seconds. If that.
Particles of silica whip past in high winds. Immersivly the suit warns "Exotic Contaminants Detected!" Instead of a sultry kick ass female voice, the voice sounds like Leonard Nemoy or the Bentusi. Fatherly and yet authoritarian.
He calls a vehicle. From the sky a cargo drone deploys. it lands, at first its seems like an unassuming large cargo container, as soon as the cargo drone departs it unfolds to reveal a MTAC! It makes contradtitory roars and beeps. The dev explains: MTACs have changed to be a more central part of the game and tied to the backstory, as they allow Mercs to operate on very inhospitable environments. The Dev demonstrates by moving into and exposed area, he starts taking damage and the wind sucks him off the platform to the crushing depths below. The death message reads "Dust is Hard". Its also explained that MTACs are semi sentient, and can learn skills. Sort of like an AI pal whoes fun to be with, but whoes AI has to be moved about and preserved like a clone. These AI can also be installed in other veichles but the widest range of options is on MTACs.
We are then treated to 10 minutes of high octane, infantry verse vehicle and vehicle verse vehicle combat. All the while intense winds and debris battler the players, including some hilarious deaths involving a MTAC level plasma cannon and ragdoll effects as players fall into the crushing deep of the gas giant.
The fight moves on, and lulls, suddenly the suit annouces "Warning! Network breach detected" a faint sansha logo flickers up. Across a huge bridge that links the two gas mining platforms were the battle was taking place, marching footsteps can be heard. All the fighters, both sides, run towards the bridge and take up a firing line. With mechanical precious, 5 abreast, Sansha's Cybernetic Legions advance on our poor mercs.
Then they annouce occulus rift support. (think about that for a moment).
And unreal 4.
*sigh* I know kind of silly, but a man can dream can't he?
