Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with "PC > console" things or "mommy loves me more" that the two communities (soon to be one) of CCP's products stupidly have for one another. This is entirely about the idea of Legion.
Preface: Legion's announcement is a fiasco. Something this damn big and this damn important and we were told this damn late. Every chance that someone at CCP had to assuage our fear and anger pretty much failed in the most ludicrous ways possible. First, it was pleaded by CPM and CSM to release it before FanFest: nope. The announcement for Legion was so short with no questions because, supposedly, Executive Producer CCP Rouge (the brain behind Legion) thought that the DUST 514/Legion panel was going to be streamed and that he was going to head the discussion. Neither were true. It was thirty hours before two of the Three Big Questions (SP, Items, Character names) were answered in a three minute announcement during the CCP keynote added at the last second. Too late at that point; those that are pissed *waves* are already pissed.
It is incredibly lame for console only players that the game they bought into that was promised to be developed on one system is likely abandoning that system for another and even worse for those that bought a PS3 to play DUST. Don't say "servers get shut down, it happens" because a game abandoning one system and transferring itself, to my knowledge, has never happened before. This isn't City of Heroes shutting down after years of service, Hellgate: London shutting down after two or three months; it is a passenger getting from a cab to another cab and leaving some belongings behind. We are the belongings.
Legion itself: With CCP saying the "we cannot make DUST 514 what we want it to be on the PS3; we need to do it on PC." I believe this to mean that Legion is DUST on the PC. Announcing it as a "separate product" is more of the failure to communicate. Legion is probably a decent, inevitable thing. We have played DUST in the hopes that it would be what CCP promised it would be. Seems that will only happen on the PC. This means that if we want idea of DUST 514, we gotta have Legion.
Bottom line: We need Legion. CCP mucked up bad with DUST but CCP has clearly checked the pulse of DUST. We were playing based entirely on the hope it was alive. Turns out it is dead and the announcement came about by Rouge on a stage in Iceland... with the candlestick. The worst thing that can happen now is Legion gets canceled. That won't resurrect DUST. We are not going to get new players because a single Google search will show "CCP announces they are slowing development in favor of Legion, can't do what they wanted to do with the PS3"; the next search result being "Project Legion canceled" won't do any good.
Basically, your car broke down and stopped being fixed by the mechanic. Now the mechanic rubs their sweaty butt on your face, farts up your nostrils, and goes "use this car." We can't be angry at the car for the way "use this car" was relayed to us. We need this car; let's be angry at the mechanic but not the car. If you want to spite the mechanic and not use the car, that is totally acceptable and depending how the transition process goes I might be in that camp as well. But don't try to blow up the car for people that want to drive it.

i started playing eve online because i thought dust was going to be continually developed.
i was only one year into my 3 year plan in molden heath, and they axed my game.
it was only 11 months after launch, and they axed my game.
i was really REALLY hyped for valkyrie. i love to dogfight. now i'm thinking valkyrie is just another ccp title that isn't eve online, and therefore is just a 'title'.

I have no problem with legion, even if I'm not going to be able to play it (I'm looking at you, crappy PC...). My problem is the fact that, even after deciding to move to PC like 6 months ago, they still sold us boosters and had events and all this jazz, even in the coming weeks before fanfest. Hell, they tried to get people to buy 'Origin' suits the week OF fanfest, especially since they weren't sure our SP was even going to transfer over. I've also heard that the CPM advised them against waiting so long to tell us, but were ignored, so I have no problem with the CPM.

The idea of a FPS in the EVE universe on the PC is fine, I dont think most of us are against that
CCP vamping us for money while knowing they were going to leave this game dead in the water, CCPs silence to our various concerns, and their multitude of failed promises is whats pissing people off and to those that are complaining about it being on PC well lets be real, they have all the same concerns and are told if they do want to keep playing then they have to shell out extra money for a gaming rig if they dont have one and its just the cherry on top
Oh, preempting the "I bought a PS3 for Dust" thing, even brand spanking new the console is less than half of a mid level gaming machine |

Legion on PC needed to happen. I'm sure y'all know that the reason why PS4 isnt backwards compatible is because of the difference between CELL and x86 architecture. Games can't easily be ported over and DUST would most likely to have needed a complete fresh start to move over to PS4 anyway. I'm cool with that.
As many have said, the messaging was a complete disaster and it was the approach taken at FF that has left a seriously bitter taste in my mouth for a number of reasons.
First of all they spoke of 'exclusive hands on with the next major evolution of DUST 514' in their FF release in the wake of the biggest content patch since Uprising and this was just COMPLETELY misleading. It's kind of disappointing that 1.8 turned out to be more of a swansong than a new chapter in DUST#s development.
Then they announce Legion in the DUST 514 keynote just for PC and then end it. Enough has been said about the 'Rouge wedding' (which I feel is apt). Logibro concedes that there were some problems with the messaging of the keynote but it wasn't rectified by JC in CCP Presents. The message that was missing was one of respect and consideration to those who have stuck by you and supported the game financially and especially the content makers who have invested their own time and energy into building up a culture.
You know what would have been nice? Legion announced as DUST reboot first on PC then on PS4 (it's clealry going to happen despite the non-committal statements of starting off on PC first etc) so why not just come out and say "on PC first, then PS4" instead of rollin' all up into a console keynote and announcing Legion for the PC and then bouncing.
Additionally, things like the recent promotion in tandem with SP events seems really underhanded, despite CCP's assertions that our 'investment' will be transferred. That's all very nice if I buy a PC to play legion before you guys get around to porting it to PS4 but doesn't really do much for me. A week ago i was nerding out at my Minmatar skill training progression now I hardly want to log in. It will take some concrete info about exactly how my investment will be transferred over before I even start to get motivated to log in.
Anyway **** it, I'm just babbling the same **** everyone else has over the past few days, it's done. I'm glad Legion is happening, I just hate the way it went down at FF.
