Seeing DUST Keynote for the second time - I have to say I really liked Legion stuff! it looks very awesome!
P.S. first time I saw it live on twitch, and my reaction was like others
I support EVE Legion, but the message was very badly delivered...

Yeah she looks pretty, but we don't know if she puts out yet
Sorry for the sexism I just couldn't help but make the analogy

It would attract more actual FPS players if they let players do the demo.
Ohh boy strolling around with an ARR sure seems interesting.

Who thought that looked good?
It was the same game with glittery tassles on.

I dunno man, anti-aliasing is something I would kill for in Dust right now. And that orbital! Bejesus.

"Looked good" is a strange thing to say. It looks like DUST but with slightly better graphics. The orbital thing does look great, that I will say; that isn't a graphical might thing just actually looks like a scary ass strike from space that would decimate everything rather than an artillery strike.
Look at Last of Us, Uncharted, the Call of Duty games. They look as good or better than the demo shown. Something is wrong with DUST. The graphics of the stated games are better but my PS3 doesn't overheat like a toaster in regards to them like it does with DUST.
I have watched the keynote several times; yes, my... addled brain has been obsessed with this crap for days now. I can tell you how I felt because it has not changed: "DUST 514 on the PC? Awesome! Okay, that is DUST 514 on the PC. Yup, that's DUST. Yep. Okay, what else? Wait, why is it at commercial? That's it?! Wait... WHAT ABOUT MY SP, AUR, AND CHARACTER NAME?!" It was never about "DUST 514 on PC", it was what it means for each players investment. That has not changed.

well to me the legion demo just seemed like visual diarrhea.
CCP cramming as much stuff into that demo map just to make it look pretty. gameplay wise, nothing has changed.
only thing i liked about the visual bit was the orbital strike from the distance.

The demo was using the same modified Unreal 3 engine as Dust currently use, just bumped up a bit with PC specs. Can you imagine what they could do with unreal 4 (which is sure to be used if they get the green light?) |

You are right OP. It looks good, but look at the trailers from CCP for Dust. They look good too an have gameplay elements we never saw.
They needed really good PCs to do the demo. An how many players where in the map? 6 SIX And how many players where there at the same time visible? 2 TWO Even when you see him looking around you can see the video stutters sometimes.
Then take the time and look at some videos from other PS3 games. You can then see the videos look better and there are more players online and visible at the same time. If you pick the right videos they are even older as Dust.
DUST 514!!!
This char is dead at the 5/14 14 and no you can't have my stuff. I take that with me.

This is bull.
The promises they had for Dust CAN still be achieved on PS3 the issue is that they don't want to do it on PS3.
There are more than enough examples to show what they are asking for is technically possible on PS3 just the issue is that they... they have no love for the console.
I think it all just comes down to the fact that they just want the game on PC simply for the openness of development and to cater to they current EVE players who are super elitist about PC vs Console. |
