This is about 'broken heart' of community, but read carefully.
Long, long time ago there was one man that loves Sci/Fi, computers and games. I'm from not rich country and I have a long way to the point where I'm now. There was a lot projects about space and reaching the stars   . Lots forgoten (or not) and closed but ppl still search for more. I choose some of them and I know why. 'Vision' from CCP is one among them.
Let's star here and open your eyes.
Bussines:
- Eve online ->40-50k online ppl ... with subscription.
- Dust with 'GREAT AND ONLY' community ... 4k p2f. (Play to free -model)
Really? 80 000 000 PS3 and 'one' free game ... and this number (4k ppl) only?. Why you 'so devoted' ppl dont play more?
This shoud be about 450k online players that p2f shoud bring money to CCP and Sony. Only 4k of Sony console community interested in this project. To hard? Mayby? But hard in long term is fun and this is one of reason why i'm here.
Not much gameplay ? Maybe - but it is enough for me. Not much customization? With items that we have today ... CCP must bring down customization model to simples form again and agian.. Why? You dont like to think .. a little?
CCP brings Dust 514 to new platform (at last not new). There was not road change. All stays same. Only ppl from CCP dont block yourself with some 'chains'.
- you dont get more players anymore! - not here anyway. This 40-50k ppl online in Eve know why they are here. And 'voted' it's money. This is from long time (11 years) and this is quite unusal for single title. Maybe because my money count?
I'm 10 year eve player... but i'm here for poject itself. You say alone 'freak', but you know .. there is more us then 'choosed' console community now. And still be more when this project grow. And this project grow .. slow but still. More ppl have chance to get there. From other consoles, from PC and more sources. You are not alone here.

- I must bought new hardware!. - as you bought PS3.. PS2... xbox, commodore 64, atari 2600 , and you will bought anything more that comes. You like it? Buy it - always... That this world works. You still can wait... but you are probably to young to do this. Patience - isn't word in your dictionary. I'm fanboy? you say... i'm far far away from this box. But listen. I hear about Dust and must buy PS3 only for this game, because exclusive PS3 title. New hardware for me. And toons exclusive eq for it. I dont cry, I support this industry (not only CCP and Sony) for more dreams that I can get. If I like something and someone say 'play this only on stick' ... soon or later I will be there. Maybe after 10 years we will change hardware few more times?
- PS4! - If 80 000 000 PS3 was not enough, 7 000 000 of PS4 either... I wonder still why your - I must bought new hardware!. dont apply here...
- I pay you! - this is free game (exception at your console). If you want to be 'faster' competive you pay more $. This money go for more things not only for beer for CCP dev needs. Sony staff is thirsty too. But you know from 4k free 'givings' is not much for all. No more money! As you wish - CCP bussines go elsewere.
- I'm hurt!. Maybe, but this mean that you dont feel pain a lot in your life. Time to grow up and start look at things outside your small world and try to understand another ppl.
I wish you ppl all good life, where you can reach your dreams and dont burn.
I CCP like as company and it is not black and white, but you always show more then others and you still here with your dream. (I have hope that I will live enough to get there  )

SO JB, under the premise that using a mouse and keyboard for playing shooters is not an option for most of us console kiddies, what do you expect us to do?
- There is nothing left for us here, its time all of us moved on, which I will probably do very shortly as soon as I buy a PS4....
PC is very flexible - you can use pad as well as you use it here. Also you can plugin your PC nowadays to TV without extra cost or technical dificulties. This are only minor 'problems'. 
Also CCP (hope/soon tm etc) know this issues and like here we can coexist we will coexist in Legion. No need for spliting community.
I succesfuly (I think) come to your console world and I can play here with 5-6 keys at keyboard at peek (i'm old ;). You will be welcome at my world too, and I'm sure you will play good as you can.
Just dont loose hope. World is not that scary as you feel now. |
