Without any information of what is in store for DUST right now, it feels like they wanted to destroy dust to force the move to Legion kind like dropping a bomb on it. And possibly this was the power play inside.
The truth is we don't know anything except a few vague comments, with still no word on what's actually coming for dust over the next few months. It is pretty obvious from the articles that they will be pulling the plug in 6 months. Except PlayStation will make them keep it live so they don't have to give mass refunds for bait and switch.
They seem to have accidentally done this and shot them self in the foot with a laser focused scope.
To be honest , they fancy themselves brilliant and I will tell you why .
It get's the word out and sparks an interest from past players who play PC games and it keeps those who play EVE and played Dust but didn't like the fact that Dust was a console shooter , it brings a target to the PC gamer community and increases their fan and player base in an area that they are good at and get profit from .
Yes it excludes the console gamers but by the reaction by CCP , they really didn't care about them anyway and were just using them to hash out the content problems that they had so that when it transfers to the new platform , they believe that they will be able to hit the ground running .
Those who play will have to pay because they can just forget about milking the Dust cow anymore and the servers will not be up that long for them to fund their transfer , also the PC gamers will be more than happy to pay just so they can have what they want and CCP knows this already .
They feel like that is a area that they are and can excel in .
I don't agree with this decision because it seems kind of elitist in a sense but they or PC gamers really don't care .
Just like new consoles come out , you need to keep up with the trends while you have a PC game and in most cases , PC gamers pay more because they have to constantly update their hardware while console games know their boundaries so they try to never exceed them while PC's are constantly evolving and changing and with consoles all your paying for is the game that your playing .
It is what it is so I'm not bothered by it anymore and just like I had to stop playing EA games , after supporting them for 20 years , this is no different besides the fact that didn't spend as much as they could have gotten from me .. so that I can be happy about .
Games and gamming companies come and go so this is really nothing different .
Disagree with me all you like but it wont change anything about what has transpired and the fact that CCP has burned a lot of bridges and unlike they and the PC community would like to believe , it will be more than they thought of to begin with .
The honor of the vets who biomassed will never be forgotten and will always be upheld until the very end .
