I'm staying, despite it all I do find this game fun.
I just wish they had shown some new stuff for Dust in the keynote and not just something thats 2 years away. Maybe the rest of the racial vehicles they are working on.
Just some more content would have been nice, not just stuff thats legion only.
That said though, I will be jumping ship to legion as soon as its launched. I feel really sorry for those that don't have a PC and can't afford one. |

I hope it succeeds.
So far I...
- ...dislike Contracts being separate from the sandbox with tiered matchmaking.
- ...understand the reasoning behind making all suits permanent, but would like to explore other ways of addressing the problem it's trying to solve.
- ...am a little iffy about consolidating all of the skill trees into a single progression tree, but I'll have to see how it looks before I know for sure.
- ...like pretty much everything else.

I calmed down after the initial "Dust is being ported to PC" feeling of abandonment, I realized it was the right move.
We have to face it, it had to be Done. Dust 514 is a failure on PS3, and the PS3 is not only outdated, but also becoming irrelevant with the coming of nextgen consoles. Rebuilding Dust as EVE Legion on a more powerful platform where it can truly achieve its goals that we have all wanted. EVE Valkyrie started off as a prototype on PC, but it will release on PS4 as well. Likewise it is very possible that this is the goal for EVE Legion as well; during the question segment of the progression presentation at Fanfest, CCP mentioned the possibility of Legion coming to nextgen consoles. It should be relatively easy to port legion from PC to PS4 given how PC-like the PS4 is, so I think there is a very good chance that 1 or 2 Fanfests from now we may see a Legion on PS4 announcement (I know its just speculation).
What CCP did wrong: The Legion prototype should have been built on PS4, and not PC. If not that there should have been a statement indicating commitment and intentions to bring Legion to PS4. The Dust community consists of console gamers, and we deserve to know that the game we invested so much time, effort, and money into would have a future on consoles; I shouldn't have to completely switch my style of gaming just see the future of Dust.
There should have been a commitment or guarantee to making sure we will be able to transfer our Dust characters and our skill points to Legion.
If these 2 things happened, there would not be this panic on the forums.
Another disappointment that has been overshadowed by the EVE Legion thing is lack of item content shown. It would have softened the blow of the EVE Legion thing if we could say "well, at least we're getting those sweet new heavy weapon in Dust", or something. Last Fanfest brought us so many new toys, this one fails in this regard. Seriously, not one Dust content asset was shown or announced (yet they expect us to believe Dust development will continue in a substantive way), just vague Legion stuff which probably won't release for like maybe 3 years; total disappointment.
Not going to play Legion until it comes to PS4... if it comes to PS4 at all.

Suits won't have tiers in Legion.

I'm an avid EVE player, so I don't mind, in principle, about moving to PC. It's a good decision and it's madness that CCP didn't do this in the first place.
However, what I cannot stomach is CCP's arrogance, hubris and smug betrayal of the entire DUST playerbase. This weekend has caused me to hate CCP and I pledge revenge.
I'm definitely signing up for Legion (should it actually move forward to production). But I'm doing so with the goal of s****** all over CCP's sandbox. I've setting up a corp with one of my EVE alts that will be the umbrella for my campaign of vengence against CCP and all the EVE "PC Master Race" *m*****f****** who've laughed at us, p***** on us and generally treated us like lesser men and women.
I will never forget Fanfest 2014 and, more to the point, I'll never let CCP forget it. We are the Templars and Legion is our f****** birthright!

To go with the video:
Don't be so happy about graphics, especially when it is shown on stage. DUST has changed even from Beta. On stage stuff is ALWAYS bullshot. Take a look at Last of Us. It looks just as pretty as what was shown on stage for Legion. Saying that the PS3 couldn't handle the graphical might of Legion/DUST is misstated. CCP didn't know how to utilize the PS3. It is the reason why DUST 514 makes my PS3 chug and chug like a choo-choo train, heating up the room to unbearable levels while something like Uncharted, Last of Us, Bioshock: Infinite, or Call of Duty: MW 2 runs no problem without making my console burst into flames. An hour into DUST I have to shut it off because it is grinding but even doing a marathon session of beating Spec Ops: The Line in a 6 hour sitting caused zero problems for my black demon.
Being happy that Legion "looks more like the game that was advertised" you are completely accepting the bait and switch. "Play DUST 514, put money into it because it is going to have all these features!" So we did. Now they are telling us to wait and you are happy that Legion is coming to fulfill the promise that was supposed to be DUST. That... doesn't work for me.
The biggest insult with it is just that CCP just dropped this on the DUST community and didn't give ANY information. There were three DUST 514 presentations on Twitch, none of which applied to DUST. It took 15 minute into the Sandbox panel, which was 2 guys by the way, before it was clear what game was being talked about; Legion. The DUST 514 progression someone even asked "how much is for DUST and how much is for Legion?" only to hear "it is for Legion." (Kudos for that question by the way; same thing I wanted to ask).
Legion, assuming it is just DUST 514 on the PC, is a good thing. It sucks massively for console only guys in a way that I really, really feel for them: can't imagine how betrayed they feel over that. However, the game will advance better on PC. The problem is that Legion is not DUST 514 on the PC, at least not as far as has been announced. It is just a PC game that happens to use the DUST intellectual property.

I might think about it but, after the way CCP has handled Dust and it's players, not only over the past couple days, but over the course of it's entire development, it's going to be a VERY tough sell for me.
First and foremost, I don't like being lied to. I don't hold grudges, but I don't forget that kind of thing easily, either. I'll have to wait and see how I feel about them when the time comes, and decide then if I'm in a place where I'm willing to give them another chance.
Secondly, CCP is going to have to clearly demonstrate that they've grown significantly as a company, are willing to treat their customers with respect, and be open and up-front with their plans and decisions. Nothing less than FULL transparency will do.
Third, they'll need to show me that they've learned something from DUST, are capable of actually delivering on their "vision" (and not just bits and pieces of it, with the rest maybe filled in and possibly fixed in the future), and able, as developers, to properly code a AAA shooter. Basically I don't want to see a repeat of Dust on a new platform, I want them to deliver on their promises this time.
Fourth, it'll need to be on the PS4 (and please, spare me the whole PC vs Console debate, I've heard it all before and I don't care. You will not convice me to play on a PC because there are no reasons, it's just personal preference that I'd rather game on a console. Some people like Pepsi, I prefer Coke. End of discussion).
And, finally, I'll be reserving final judgement until I've seen the final, release-ready version of the game. What was shown when Dust was just a prototype concept was significantly different from what we finally got when it was released. Don't think for one second that Legion will be any different. What was shown at fanfest was a marketing tool, specifically tailored to look as appealing as possible, and many things can and will change during the course of development. What we've seen so far in no way represents the finished, playable product.
IF they do ALL that, MAYBE I'll think about it.
But, on the other hand, by that time there will probably be many many other quality AAA titles to occupy my limited gaming time, from experienced, proven developers who haven't screwed me around, so... |

I am making ccp pay for being dicks by cancelling two eve accounts I didnt really need, for atleast a few months.
Im extatic about Dust 2.0 coming to PC but delaying the announcement to make a little extra $ and screwing Dusties over at fanfest was not acceptable. (and they need to feel some consequences for that). |

I hope your correct, I do however get the feeling that some of the comments are moving from "CCP's poor PR" and drifting into Console "tribe" being "betrayed" in favor of "PC Elitist". The PR was **** poor, and had all the makings of someone who had something that needed to be said but avoided saying it until the worst possible time, in the most socially inept way possible.
I would be surprised to hear anyone saying the Project Legion announcement was handled properly, but considering CCP's early vision for what Dust514 "should have been" and what they were able to produce, the PC (with potentially easier porting capabilities to the NextGen Consoles) seems like the only logical step.
I'll be following to Legion, if/when available, but many of my corp and alliance won't be. That's a hard prospect to look forward to considering they were largely the reason I didn't give up on Dust months ago when it became clear that Dust wasn't living up to the earlier visions of what could have beenGǪ

No. But I will continue to play Dust until the last nail is hammered flush, and I've learned a lot about myself as a gamer.
To clarify, I am not butthurt because Legion is on PC. I am butthurt because of being misled. I feel like CCP's handling of the Dust community does not bode well for their handling of any community. They have a history of making shortsighted decisions, apparently for the sake of money, offending their community, and not delivering on promises.
I picked up EVE last May and got pretty into it. I saw Dust on PSN a week later and thought, "Hey, what a cool idea--I can play in this gaming universe on two platforms, and to different, but related, ends. Hot diggity!" Then I tried playing Dust. Never having played an online FPS and accounting for Dust's horrendous NPE, I put Dust down for about 5 months and played EVE almost exclusively. On a whim, I picked up Dust, saw ~5M SP passively accrued, and gave it another go. Being slightly more survivable, I had a better time and slowly got drawn into Dust, so much so I only logged into EVE to update skill queues.
All the things I hoped for from the two games--tie ins, PVE, PC as a meaningful gameplay mode--never materialized, even a little. I visited the forums daily, contributed my thoughts, learned about the community, and generally looked forward to a more immersive experience in New Eden. Then came FanFest.
So, I'm taking this as a lesson: the moral of the story is that FPS games are fun and fandom leads to Q_Q. Continually financially supporting a commercial creative enterprise is an exercise in futility if that enterprise has a history of bravado followed shortly by failure.
I look forward to seeing some of you in Planetside 2, Destiny, ESO, and, maybe some day a way down the road, Star Citizen.
