When is Eve Legion going to go to general release? Say two to three years?
There is no way that CCP are going to just transfer across some tens, probably hundreds of thousands of players with SP of around four years to completely stomp day one PC players, again completely failing to deliver a decent NPE in a CCP product.
You'll likely be able to keep your name and some cosmetic trinkets to show you're "old school".
CCP want to make money from the PC market and they want to make it again from you.
If the migration plan was such a lock details would have been outlined in the DUST 514 keynote given the warnings now public based on CSM8 and CPM0 statements.
As it stands now you are being fed spin to keep you quiet while the games media has its attention on Iceland.
Once the spotlight moves on it's going to be pretty obvious that since the failed launch of DUST514, for probably the whole year you have been played like suckers.
It's not that CCP decided to can DUST514. If it's unprofitable that's their right. If they decide to clone the game and release it on another platform, again their call.
However, telling you one thing while doing the opposite has finally given people an insight into how CCP operate. They usually just don't do it on such a public scale.
You have a lot to answer for.

Except they already plan to separate the players and give areas for newer players to play in relative safety, so you could have 14 trillion SP and it wouldn't really ever effect them.
In theory, at least. It's still FAR too early to tell.

Look, I get that you're excited and hopeful, but at least OUR assumptions are based upon CCP's actual history, and not a marketing presentation of a prototype game that they haven't even fully committed to development yet.
A lot of things can and will change between now and if/whenever Legion actually sees the light of day (just look at Dust when it was just a concept, compared to what we have today).
Maybe they've learned their lesson, maybe they'll do better on the PC. Only time will tell but, based upon their track record so far, I wouldn't bet on it, that's for sure. |

Well thankfully there's no money on it (for me), and CCP has confirmed that DUST simply will never be what they wanted it to be, so either Legion succeeds, or the whole IP goes down in flames. I'm fine with both, though I'd prefer the first.
We can either wallow in negativity, or we can look to the future. I choose to be hopeful because for the past year, I've been anything but.

To me the funny thing about people saying how much it costs to run dust. Dust probably takes somewhere in the single digits of % of computing power that CCP has available for the eve clusters. Dust is pretty much just an experiment for CCP to test out getting into the console market. Here is the thing though CCP sucks at making games for console. Console users want a good balanced game that had good controls. CCP took forever to get the controller working well and has not figured out how to balance the game at all. Being on a console CCP also can't push patches and fixes 100% on their schedule and they have to run certain things through sony which slows things down. They are going 100% pc because that way they are in charge of everything 100%. |

I can see the hope but not because I'm a fan, I'm actually pretty blah on the game itself. But I HAVE seen another game go through this very same motion and watched it become something greater while carrying over my character from it's previous version with adjustments to even the playing field, of course. I speak of Final Fantasy XIV. When they transferred our characters from 1.0 to 2.0 our gil was taxed for 90%, though we got to keep all our items. It was pretty steep but I didn't complain, I got to keep my stuff and class levels. CCP could well do the same and, you know what, I wouldn't mind. But that's neither here nor now, lets wait and see what the future holds before going rabid. |

theirs no real reason they couldn't do a transfer as far as new player experience goes.
first off legion will have PVE, so NPE is fine.
second if legion was branded as a continuation of dust then again this is fine, legion could just viewed as another large update to a 5 year old game at that point.
of course theirs no telling anything at this point, best to just ignore legion till we get some concrete information imo.

In EvE skillpoints are almost meaningless.
Honestly, I have about 150 mil SP in EvE. Playing for almost 8 years now. If I started an alt today I'd be combat effective in about 3 months. I would be making billions a week within my first week. It's about what you know.
A new version of DUST will be similar. Well as I play EvE, I'm actually first and foremost an FPS guy. If I have to put twice the rounds on you as you do for me there's a high probability I'll still kill you. Some of you would stomp me into the ground... and do. I suspect, though, that protostomping will be less of a factor in the new DUST. It will likely be more skill based, and SP will probably just unlock new styles and tactics. I bet, though, that if you come to Legion with a good FPS mindset and understand the progression system in EvE you'll realize that you can make a combat effective account in a few weeks. Sure, DUST vets will have an advantage in that they can spec for a variety of skill foci (that's the correct spelling of "focuses" fyi) in short order... but it won't eclipse the importance of skill and knowledge. In that context, I don't see why CCP wouldn't just cache out your skills and load you up on SP in Legion. Skills are nice to have in EvE... but a good PvPer is a good PvPer pretty straight away in EvE. I don't see how Legion would be so radically different.
Happy Violentime wrote:When you bundle it all up with the Eve Universe crap its fairly obvious to see why the did it - Valkrie and Legion - 2 Free to play EVE minigames for Evetards - guess Star Citizen has them worried? I'm as pumped as anyone for Star Citizen. I came to EvE from playing Freelancer mods. However... it's been kicked back in development a year already... not much there atm. I'm getting skeptical. Remember what happened to Black Prophecy and Jumpgate Evolution. Don't hold your breath for anything. All the corporate guys at ALL of these developers are full of s***. Play it before you judge it. Chris Roberts has an AWESOME track record. ...but all developers are lairs.
DUST sucked anyway. Play EvE instead.

I don't know what scares me more: the lost of SP/character name (Time) or my BPO's and AUR (Money).
Legion's dropsuits are entirely BPO. So I guess the 20 dollars I have in my Sever and Raven suit as well as the Dren Pack are entirely worthless.
You know what angers me the most? The lack of respect that CCP has for us as customers.

Just my estimate based on what I've seen. It took me a year to figure out what the hell was going on in EvE. I had a freind sign up though... he played a LOT of MMOs before. He was flying a T3 and killing tons of dudes in 3 months. That's what I base that estimate on. Him... not me. He's one of the best gamers I've ever seen. I'll stomp him in an FPS but he killed me in EvE. Within 3 months even me with 150 mil SP couldn't take him.
DUST sucked anyway. Play EvE instead.
