These are simple changes that could improve the Dust experience, they are simple changes that should require no more than editing a few text files.
First, lowering the time it takes before you're allowed to activate inertial dampeners - I suggest 0.5 seconds. The reason for this is that the player can damage and potentially kill themselves when falling off of a ledge(any point on Ashland for example) where the inertial dampeners would allow them to live.
Second, switching Push To Talk to D-Pad Down and the map to D-Pad Left. There are two reasons for this: 1 - D-Pad Down is closer to your thumb to enable easier use of PTT(nobody uses it because they can't reach it easily). 2 - D-Pad Left is further from your thumb to prevent the map from coming up during a firefight causing the player an unnecessary death(this happens to me several times each play session).
Both of these suggestions have been brought up before and presumably read by CCP yet no action or even recognition has been evident(CCP does read the forums but don't always reply and this is evidenced by the bi-weeklyGäó features and bug reports posts).
These should be easy changes that should not even require a major client update(it should only be a few edits in a few text files and minor edits to some loading screens).
A different option that would likely require an update would be the auto deployment of the inertial dampeners(at the last possible moment to allow the minimal freefall movement we currently have) if the player would die from the fall(if the player would only be damaged but not die the dampeners would not deploy unless used manually). The only drawback to this would be if you were trying to AWOX by suiciding out of the MCC but this could be done more efficiently by using the suicide option in the menu. |

I don't use push-to-talk. The noise canceling on my mic is good enough. I have a wired mic, so the price is good, and I don't have to worry about charing.
Yeah, there have been times where I needed the dampeners but didn't get to use them. Although most of the time a death occurred because I was already damaged. At full health I would have survived. |

Honestly I don't care about push to talk positioning, it's the positioning of the map button that I want changed. It's simply that I don't want to die because some part of the UI pops up when I don't want it to - if the push to talk and map buttons were swapped then the issue wouldn't exist(hitting push to talk will have no effect while currently hitting map stops you in your tracks for several seconds due to the map fade in/fade out effect).
That's the usual case with fall deaths. I would like to at least be able to activate them if I'm going to take fall damage - currently you can and often do die to short falls because you can't activate your dampeners. |
