I was disappointed yesterday when I watched the DUST 514 progression keynote, and heard all the new features like simplifying the skill tree and it got me really excited for Dust. But nothing about what they talked about was actually coming to DUST 514, and this was only revealed at the very end and even then, only when somebody asked for clarification on what were the new features for. Why in the world would they call it 'DUST 514 Progression' when none of it is coming to dust. I bet the 'Putting the Sandbox in DUST 514' is not going to have anything relevant to DUST at all aswell, just Project Legion.
CCP you just gave every DUST 514 player who doesn't own a PC a kick in the face. Well Done. |

Admittedly naming those panels Dust 514 is wrong, you should not be expecting anything to come to Dust 514. It was silly to expect it in the first place |

Dust needed to move to another platform sooner or late anyways. If that platform is PC or PS4 doesn't matter at all. I personally would like to see it on PC, but I don't like that this weakens the Eve-Link, because now all Eve players just create their twinks and contracting will mainly be between Eve players and their twinks instead of between Dust players and Eve players.
The kick in the face is how they seem to not giving us the ability to port our Dust progress over to Legion. And neither does it seem to concern them what happens to our BPOs we paid real money for.

They have said, (they=saberwing, rouge and praetorian) that they will absolutley endeavour to "bring our footprints" over to legion. I personally need more info before I consider investing any more time in DUST, if I invest any. But yeah, they have gone on the record saying they will do what they can to make it happen in some form.

Yeah, they "endeavour" that. But the thing is: Something like this should've been the first thing they should've figured out when somebody brought Legion on the table. Had they said something like "Yeah, we will bring Dust to PC as Legion and here are our plans as to how your progress will carry over" I would've had way less problems with Legion and would probably be playing Dust right now.
And with bringing that stuff over they hopefully talk about more than that we will get some kind of mention in the credits or on some plate in the game.

It's not like they told us about a 10 year plan or anything. 
Go troll somewhere else.
They didn't stop taking money when they knew Dust was over. They held an event to get even more! CCP boycott for life.

If that happened no one would bat an eye, instead we got "Project Legion: *" talks without any serious mention of the Dust community, which makes us assume no plans with regard to Dust in 2014 are on the table in CCP. |

The new tree (when and if and when fully designed) would require a significant recode on dust 514's system as opposed to fresh code input into Legion. However it is something I would like to see 'tested' on us before letting it go live on legion yet its going to be hard to justify bandwidth.
The new tree I think feels powerful but until CCP Z gets the tree out to you guys it is going to be hard for you to make that decision.
It still has the freedom of our current tree maybe even moreso
It removes all the stupid little traps of SP and no more useless lvl 2 and lvl 4s and skills like dropsuit command 4 and 5.
Allows players to still make fits that combines elements of any tree they have explored in the same way an omni soldier can make a frankenstein of a suit (not that I do that but the option is there for me)
Roles can then get emphasized far more strongly than before and subroles of even a suit class can be explored a bit.
And best yet every branch of the new tree is optional, you can race to the top unlocking all the goodies first then going back to get the performance improvements doing the whole either or sub roles or taking your time and maxing everything out along the way the choice should be yours.
Overall it may nerf me as a omni soldier by setting me back even further than most other players; in a way its a buff as well because in exchange for my freedom I am not giving up too much power of my items rather I now have only myself to blame for my shortfalling.
