The best way to deal with largely unfounded whining from a PR perspective, especially with this kind of intensity (well, however intense it can be for a game with such a small playerbase), is to let people tire themselves out for a bit first. Get a night's sleep, realize how dumb you were last night, then read a blog post, or perhaps actually watch the panels, that confirm how dumb you were being last night. It's like wondering why CCP didn't try to stop the original Burn Jita.
Kinda like dealing with a tantruming child you know? Let 'em go for a little bit, tire themselves out, then they take a nice nap and you can actually do something besides watch them all the time. |

Encouraging players to drop a ton of cash to fly to Iceland toget dumped on, unconscionable and a totally avoidable PR nightmare.

They pushed skill boosters and events till the last possible second to get what money they could out of console gamers when they were not sure that they could port over SP or ISK. They encouraged console gamers to come out to Fanfest only to drop a bomb on them during what was supposed to be a fun vacation.
I dont care how great Legion is, I will never ever trust CCP and what they say.

I've seen the same "terrible" PS3 run 128v128 player engagements at high res while never going below 30 FPS, while also touting 7 different game-modes on significantly larger maps.
Care to go into the whole "console mentality" assertion? or can I just dismiss you as someone who thinks the PC Community is somehow superior to the Console Community.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the abysmally terrible PS3 is part of the problem. This thing wasn't really state of the art when new, and it's pretty long in the tooth now. You see, in the PC world, things move forward in that amount of time. |

No, any money spent in the past couple months went into the development of Legion, a game that many console players will not/cant play due to the costs associated with getting a good gaming rig.
CCP should have done something to warn people who were spending money to come out to Fanfest for Dust alone. They valued their 'big reveal' over their players. I feel really sorry for those guys.

You can get a gaming rig as good as a PS4 for about the same cost as the PS4. |

Yeah, but many people still do not have enough money for a PS4 either. If they are console gamers first, they probably arent going to buy both. Its not the money per se but the mentality of CCP to squeeze every time they could out of players before the reveal that irks me.

Let's face it already. The PS3 is now becoming a dead market and will lose its relevance within approximately 2 years and that is an optimistic estimate. Sony once said that the PS3 will be supported for about 4 more years but that was announced like 2 years ago.
And let's be honest here for once. Even you had your doubts. Can you tell me with a straight face that you never once looked at your PS3 and said to yourself "Man, this thing doesn't look capable of handling all the crap we want it to have." I will admit that thought crossed my mind sometime during this past year.

You're cute. I said it was one of the things holding them back. Yes, the PS3 is pretty solidly crappy by today's standards. It was definitely holding them back. If you want to see what a modern PC can do, take a ride around the web and look for something called Star Citizen.
If you wanted a less impressive, but more direct comparison, look at the difference between Titanfall on a PC and on the XBox One. Now remember that the PS3 is almost a decade old. |

What? You mean as opposed to the 300 concurrent Dust players? Eve has typically ten times that amount online. I hardly think that Legion will be any more barren than Dust. It'll certainly be a better game, and it'll be on better equipment. I guess I'm not following your logic :) |

And here is why I never parted with a penny towards dust. I watched the trailers all those years ago, the keynotes, everything. When I finally got my hands on the game, it felt broken, repetitive, and these things haunted me. Where were the grand battles? Where were the vtol capable jets? The beautiful graphics? Where were these? But like an idiot I continued to play, hoping that I would once again see my beautiful scenery, my vtol fighter, in depth character customization, everything I was promised. I will be heading back to the PC for legion (as well as my beloved starship within EvE online.)
To those bitching, game's over, you were used, suck it up like a big boy and move on (or you can cry to mommy, whichever suits you)

Looked at it, knew it since E3 closed beta build... And also knew DUST was going to be ported to PC/PS4 eventually _AND_ my character would come along for the ride with the ISK and (rather large collection of) BPO's.
Knew the BPO's would be changed once manufacturing was implemented, but they would be at least kinda similar to T2 BPO's... CCP never removed the latter even as they admitted they were a mistake.
They have basically broken an implicit promise that has been there always for the capsuleers, and we had reason to believe applied to mercs. |
