As much flak as you are getting due to the events of today, a large amount of players are with you and agree that this is the best move for CCP with regards to the first-person experience within New Eden.
I spoke to some of you personally today, and I will say again: don't get too down about all this negativity. A lot of people are getting far too emotional about this and acting like idiots.
Do what is best for New Eden and you will never falter
Cheers

In my country we use to say "si stava meglio quando si stava peggio". Bring back Brandon Laurino ffs.
I am not a Dust merc. I am a multi-vet MAG player searching for a new home.

They should absolutely feel bad. All of them should have trouble sleeping. This was a betrayal of the community. We were cast aside callously while they talk about how awesome Legion will be. At least have the decency to break up with us first instead of just jumping in bed with the first development project that comes out of your ass.
The whole thing was handled as a PR nightmare. Legion will probably be a good game and great for the portfolio of products, but that doesn't make what happened today less of a shitstorm. Were they delusional? Were we supposed to LIKE them using our keynote to talk about how great this other game will be? Everyone who signed off on that idea is an out of touch moron.

I am whole heartedly with the Devs on their desire to make New Eden a place accessible to any and all, but we need solid clarification on what the future of DUST 514 is going to be, just because they'll keep working on it doesn't necessarily mean their gonna continue to progress the game. We need to know if we're gonna continue to get our regular updates to help this game continue to evolve, or if their just gonna maintain the servers and allocate the majority of their resources to Legion. basically, we need answers. |

I have no problem with the fact that the game is restarting on PC. My problem involves the money I spent on boosters these past couple weeks.

From the horses mouth
According to interviews CCP rogue has already done, dust has no development resources at all now. Everyone was shifted to Legion. Dust only has maintenance from ow until it dies.

Large amount, are you referring to the number of people who play dust (not a large number) or a high percentage (also not true). I think you are lying in both cases. You accuse others of acting like idiots, that's not very nice. But your point is invalid x2. |

CCP does not provide answers, how has anyone not learned that lesson yet?

In my opinion, they chose the right destination, but the wrong path.
Yes, they should make progress and move on, but leaving Dust on life support for a few months without anything else seems horrible. ESPECIALLY with all the promises they've made. Remember that Caldari or Minmatar socket that they were planning to release? Yeah. I don't think we'll ever see those.
Legion should be the evolution of Dust and it should allow mercs to transfer SP over. Dust on the PS3 should keep advancing towards what will be Legion, but pull the plug eventually.
And for f*ck's sake... HAVE PROPER COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY AND CCP NEXT TIME! |

It's cool you're trying to pat them on the back and all, but they don't deserve it.
I'll put it like if I were explaining it to a 4 year old.
Mommy and Daddy decide to have a brother for you, he will be just like you. But in order for that to happen we are going to have to kill you. Thank you son, for helping us learn how to be better parents. Son fights back, but is not heard by the parents, and is forgotten and soon to be dead.
Get it?

From a technical standpoint, I fully agree with CCP's decision to shift over to PC. PS3 could never hold up to what Dust would have required of it, and really any console they decide to put it on would eventually become outdated. PC avoids that problem while also allowing CCP to push updates at will, run test servers, and use all sorts of tools and metrics they otherwise wouldn't be able to use. This is awesome to hear and I look forward to seeing the results.
From a gaming standpoint, as an almost exclusively PC gamer (except Dust) I'm completely stoked for Legion and will definitely play it even if they don't transfer characters. If necessary I'll biomass this toon so I can use my same name there. Legion as a game shows great promise, much more than Dust does right now, and it looks like it will be fun to play and provide much more interesting content while creating a stronger link to the Eve universe.
From a PR standpoint, CCP really could not have handled this more poorly. Their Dust keynote was a 20-minute tech demo of a pre-alpha game with no timeframe put forward, and zero news of future updates to Dust... And they didn't expect a community uproar? They could at least have spent some time coming up with an FAQ. Surely the CPM knew about this, did they not anticipate what we would ask? I would have preferred that CCP keep quiet about Legion for a few more months until they could release more information and keep satisfying us with improving Dust in the interim. It seems to me like they were rushing to get this news out for Fanfest, and weren't willing to wait until potentially next year to make the reveal. And the lack of blue tags in this forum section trying to calm us down is unnerving.
TL;DR - Legion is an excellent idea and the right move for Dust, but the terrible PR with which they announced it and have handled the community reaction basically cancels that out.
Hopefully they'll tell us some more at tomorrow's CCP Presents keynote.

-Dagger Two, At fanfest, somewhat drunk after a great pub crawl. That's not what this is about. I'm happy we're going to get the PC New Eden FPS treatment that the Dust concept has always deserved. That move was inevitable.
What's junk is being strung along and being encouraged to spend money on this game for months when they KNEW they were going to be abandoning Dust in favor of Legion, then having Legion be announced with no guarantee or even mention of preserving the progress we've all ground for for the past several months. We bought boosters and BPOs on the idea that the SP we earned and the reusable items we bought would last for the 10 year lifecycle the CCP described, and that they would exist in the context of the grand vision that they put forward. To have the project canceled less than a year later is a colossal middle finger to everyone who spent money on Dust.
I saw that rail rifle in the Legion gameplay demo. I have rail rifle Ops V. Character transfers to Legion kthnx.
