Posted this in general and it was immediately swallowed up by butthurt and troll posts asking for ISK from people leaving...
So I, like many others, was very shocked at today's keynote. However, I did some thinking..
Since Project Legion is in it's infancy, I propose CCP changes it's vision.
Last year one of the Dev's made an off handed comment about wanting Dust Mercs to be able to board ships, and everything from capture ships to damage modules and shields and armor, they could board POS's and fight literally in space. This is where EvE: Legion should EXIST! EvE: Legion should be the Marines to the Dust 514 Army Ground Pounders.
With EvE's vision of making everything destructible in space, this could be used in High Sec also, and also with the new gate system where players can control gates, EvE: Legion could be used to capture a gate rather than using a Navy. EvE: Legion would have a new utility in New Eden and would bring a new level and type of game play.
I'm not sure about the technical aspect of this all, but it would be better then trying to figure it out for Console users.
You could incorporate this into PC, too. For a long time people have been asking for a multi-stage PC conflict for a more immersed feel, just like how you said in the Keynote what you're geared towards.
You could start out with EvE: Legion having to open essentially a Beach Head and Dust 514 Mercs will then come in and fight for the ground. We could also incorporate the same model into FW.
You would never have a cross over of EvE: Legion and Dust 514 Mercs, so there would be no need to figure out how to make Console and PC talk. We already have in place a system that communicates Dust 514 to New Eden. And EvE: Legion would exist in the PC realm already so problem solved.
However, for this to work you would need a solid skill system that flows between both games so players would only have to adapt to one type of skill progression model. I would propose throw out that new one and stick with what we have. Dust has always been marketed as a game that is Play It YOUR Way.
Also bring PvE to Dust 514 like intended and move EvE: Legion into a PvE system where we could rat and go along on missions similar to EvE.
Production could then flow through PC for Dust 514, and on the EvE industry backbone for EvE:Legion.
TL;DR: Make EvE Legion the Marines of Space, with Ship boarding and POS capturing. Make Dust 514 the Army with capturing planets. Use both in FacWar and Planetary Conquest.

I like where you're going with this.. maybe needs more thought. |

I intend on it. Seriously this was my knee jerk reaction to everything that's went on today, I would like to get a Dev to at least look at the idea, much like everyone else, though. |

There is no cross platform functionality. CCP/Shanghai will be using the massive increase in computing ability to improve their art assets. They have no experience with doing the hard work necessary to get PS3 and PC working together. It can be done because Valve has done it with Portal 2. But these guys are not anywhere close to having the skill set that Valve developers do.
Also, the very nature of Legion doesn't have room for us. Solitary EVE players firing up their other PC, not the laptop they run EVE on. Then they will sandbox their way around the edges of the territory to search for Salvage as everything else won't matter. One wonders if there will even be a Skill Tree. The very thing that ruins EVE for most, besides Ganking being officially sanctioned by CCP/Iceland. It reads like there might not be one as gear is the leveling mechanism.
Technically they will be using fancy to art to cover up the fact there is no real game underneath it. Find salvage area, release the salvage bots and hope your mouse clicking frenzy will beat the other Legionnaires to the loot. It is a Loot driven FPS pretending to be a game. Those that band together will be able to Gank those that don't, just like EVE. The problem of tiny maps will be reduced with the larger storage capabilities of a PC, but it will not be all that necessary. Fighting? Who knows, certainly not CCP/Shanghai. They have yet to get fighting to work correctly in Dust.
Now they are planning on solving many of their problems by leaving the restrictions of the PS3 behind. They are embracing UE4, which we were told Dust would be on (BTW), and without a doubt they expect UE4 to automagically fix the many problems they believe are caused by UE3.5. What they don't know is coders that cannot code will never be made better coders by changing the engine.
Snipers will still have head glitches because they will be the ones defining what gets placed in a scene and it what order. So nothing will actually improve the skill set of the developers. Because they will repeat what they did in Dust. Blame the engine and, more importantly, blame the users.
Another day, another Shiv, welcome to CCP.
And so it goes.

I specifically said there would be no cross interaction between legion and dust.
I'm not looking to bash this dev or that dev team, do you have anything to add to the concept other than whose good and bad? |
