People have been posting about how Legion was a necessary transition from Dust and how there was no way this game ever would have been what it should have been on PS3.
That may be true. But I, and I suspect everyone else posting about legion aren't mad about dust ending. They aren't mad that Legion will be on PC and so it won't be accessible to them. This is disappointing, but I would rather see the emergence of a game we always knew this could be on a platform that can support it.
The reason I'm mad is that this was an ambush. Dust players who loved this game and community paid big bucks for a ticket to fanfest only to learn that the game they came to support was over. CCP didn't warn us. They didn't turn us down gently. And they kept pushing origin packs on us up until the day it ended. That is reprehensible. CCP can do what they want with their products, but when they treat their customers that way it really is terrible of them as a company and is not worthy of the company they claim to be that is first and foremost dedicated to their players.

The reason why people are mad is because CCP anounces this **** in the dust keynotes saying fuuck you to everyone and doesnt even have the balls to say if therw is going to be a chartransfer.
Sure legally its all good because legion is a "new" pile of ****, but moraly this is just crap.
LEGION IS DUST and we qhere told theres no stuff like char resets anymore. Thats just using cheap tricks and fuucking up the community, thats the reason why everyone is pissed.
And now those idiots try to pedal back with shiit like "its just a pre alpha" and "we dont know where this is going "
Plain BULLSHIT, grow some balls and man up and say it straight out if you are taking a dump on your community , being this whiny and innocent doesnt change a damn thing

Different developers even stated multiple times throughout that "Legion is Dust" and "Dust is on PC", along with "What used to be worked on DUST", etc. providing a double slap in the face after the original statement was trying to damage control the situation.
Dropships need a buff. This way they can stop derping everywhere . ;_;

Are they starting to walk this back? I only ask, not because I have hope, but because I am curious to know if CCP was really that out of touch that they thought this keynote was going to end with an overwhelming "Yay its now going to be on PC and all the time and money I have spent on this completely other and different game  is now wasted!"

As I posted in D-uni's forum, summarized:
They decide to go to pc, their core market, and create Project Legion, a "new" game with all of dust's assets, but with a different skill system, a game balance that is more equipment based as opposed to skill base, and with all the new promised dust features and assets that we were supposed to see at fanfest 2014. Dust will remain around for a while to deal with the fact that they have prior commitments plus if it is on it's way out, it makes a perfect playground for testing that would be too damaging to a game being actively developed; allowing them to do testing for Project Legion and providing a case study of what didn't work in the Legion prototype. Also Legion might take a while to materialize so running Dust could keep people around and amused until them.
Project Legion is Dust 2.0 because it meets the duck test, it has Dust's vision and art assets, it's planned features were Dust's planned features, and attempted improvements that could only be made with a new engine or game skill system. If it looks like a duck, quacks and walks like a duck, but has slightly different colored feathers that are still duck-like, then it is a duck of just a slightly different breed. In short, Dust is dead! Long live Dust 2.0 Project Legion! |
