So I just heard about Legion and honestly, it's the worst possibly a company could ever handle a situation; but they did it. I'm just here to offer up some sad truths that will follow Legion as it's developed:
Even if Legion is ported to PS4, we probably won't get our characters transferred because CCP pissed of Sony
This point actually also connects to the future of Dust when it comes to PS3 -> PS4. I quit Dust to play FFXIV and when the PS4 came out, a very interesting point came about during my time in FFXIV. In FFXIV, you can upgrade to the PS4 version from the PS3 version for free. The devs actually revealed that this was not a normal arrangement per Sony's practices. FFXIV basically had to use the "Well, we ARE Square Enix" card to make that happen. CCP has no such pull with Sony, Dust was practically a charity case. Transferring data from one medium to the next is not as easy as one may think. CCP promised Sony the same Dust 514 they promised us. Sony will not feel inclined to help in any character transfers at all. That's why CCP said they're not porting to PS4 until Legion is fully established, they burned their bridge with Sony and will have to try to rough it on their own. They won't be able to get themselves back in unless they have leverage. Legion being successful on the PC IS that leverage.
Legion will probably be P2P
This isn't really a sad truth, just a truth. One of the major reasons Dust was a console game was because the F2P model it used would have cannibalized their EVE customer base. If the idea is to make an FPS that is just as immersive and expansive as EVE on the PC, it will be a subscription based game. That way, people who prefer EVE-style gameplay can pay for EVE and people who prefer FPS gameplay can pay for Legion.
Dust will basically the free trial version of Legion
This the most we can expect of Dust right now. It's F2P and on an outdated console. It will probably never see any more updates and will only serve as advertisement for people to get interested in Legion. That is, if Sony even allows themselves to be played that hard.

Don't tell me that Sony isn't interested in keeping CCP happy. Valkyrie is the top VR game being touted today and Sony gets it for their console.
No pull is crap.
Sony is currently on top of the world when it comes to the mainstream gaming market. They might be interested in a Valkyrie Exclusive, but I'm sure the conversation on Sony's side went something like "Oh, you're doing this Legion thing now? Well since I'm such a nice guy, I won't make a big deal about it if you let us have that Valkyrie thing! Also, ONLY because you're my favorite child, I'll even keep my door open for Legion onto my PS4 doohickey that everyone loves. It's a win-win!"
