Support or improve.. Blah. That could be fixing all remaining 1.8 issues, stealing our identities and buying boats and then throwing our characters out the airlock into the sun...

I have a hard time believing Dust will *really* be supported moving forward. I mean just consider that most of the staff has been working on Legion, and the result of all that work is stunning. But look at 1.8's largest and most glaring glitch: you spawned in and your skills didn't apply. Certainly, just seeing the hp bars not full when spawning in would have been the most obvious sign that something was wrong--and would easily have been seen by a QA department--yet this bug somehow made it to launch with 1.8, and it's likely due to the smaller staff actually working on Dust. So will Dust conte to be developed? Unlikely, just based on the degree of polish that came with 1.8.

Dust might be supported, but really who cares? It will stay on a dated platform, has no future in terms of development and the player base will fall through the floor over the next week.
Killing a game can be done in other ways besides just shutting down the server, and dust has just been taken out back and shot. |

By supported they mean that it will still be up on PSN and people can still play it and any dumb newbie that happens upon the game and thinks its good can give CCP money. But everything that vets like myself supported and continued to play this game for isn't coming. Dust 514 will remain the POS lobby shooter it is while Eve: legion becomes the game I was sold.

It will be supported only in terms of having operating servers. There won't be any more content updates- those will all be saved for Legion. Basically this is the end of Dust ever having new content. There's no longer some great game at the end of the tunnel, that game is now on PC and won't have anything to do with Dust besides the fact it uses most of it's assets.
So basically CCP is just pulling the plug on development but keeping the servers around to milk booster money from anyone stupid enough to continue buying them. |

My guess is the super delayed and riddled code we've see so far is actually a result of splitting teams prior to this fanfest that taxed the team that usually supported us with less resources to do so. A better development plan from the start could have prevented a lot of these issues but I think the closer to fanfest we got, the more we saw how ****** up everything suddenly got with hot fixes needed almost daily as they scrambled to get a video and some sort of half ass presentation of legion out the door right on the heels of a 1.8 patch.
That being said, I think things will calm down a little but support is going to be slower than ever. Splitting any resources like that causes issues. They say they're splitting 'devs' but it makes me wonder what roles those 'devs' actually are and how it affects development.
IE, are you splitting off 6 devs but sharing the same Graphics Designer dude? Do both teams have their own QA teams? Or does everything funnel to the same QA team and thus is first come, first serve and anything in queue must wait. If events happen for one side and not the other, does that bottleneck one?
Either way, you should expect support for Dust514 to be few and far between and if you think of the lifetime of ps3, why would this infrequent support continue for more than a year?

I think CCP has really shown how they will support Dust from now on during the DUST Keynote and the DUST Progression at Fanfest. It was great support.

They've already confirmed that PVE won't be coming to DUST, so that's pretty much put the kibosh on that much sought-after development. I doubt very much if they'll put in a player-driven market or any of the other stuff we've waited for.
I reckon what you have with 1.8 will be all you'll ever get. |

some quotes from CCP:
". Do you think it was a mistake launching Dust on a platform that was already on its way out by the time Dust released?
JCG: Well, not when they started. [Laughs]"
"There was some really cool gameplay that came out of it."
"What happens to Dust now that Legion exists?
JCG: Dust is going strong. Dust is going really well. Dust is a product we're really proud of, and that's not about to change. Again, in six months or a year it's difficult to say today"

Microsoft still supports Windows 7, through they are working on something better in Windows 8. I swear, you all jump to conclusions higher and faster than my scout jumps a railing.

Um. Hate to burst your bubble. But you did you notice that the Dust514 keynote had nothing to do with Dust.
There were no announcements of upcoming features There was no announcement of a road map There wasn't even a "incoming fixes" announcement.
This whole "Dust will continue as a separate project" thing is a nice way of saying "please continue to give us money for a game we are in the process of abandoning". |

This. Exactly this. If CCP had tangible, short term plans to invest in Dust, they would have revealed them at the keynote. Or, given the massive backlash that's unfurling, they would have made a more concrete statement via press release.
[Legion] "its a least a year away, I believe." GÇô CCP Rouge http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-05-02-ccp-re-imagines-ps3-shooter-dust-514-for-pc-as-project-legion
Shanghai office only has about 60 devs on staff at any given time, and that's a very small team in relation to the scope they're aiming for with Legion (Triple A titles like Destiny, Watch Dogs ect.. have upwards of 300+ devs to bring their project to market). Shanghai is going to need all hands on deck to get Legion out the door.
There is no financial incentive for CCP to invest in new content for Dust, and the player base knows this.
Newbs and bitter vets are going to leave en mass because the same problems that plague Dust today (matchmaking, NPE, balance, and so forth) are guaranteed to still be F---ed for another year.
